Sunday Recap | The Danger of the Drift
Pastor Eddie’s message challenged us with a sobering question: How do we live intentionally in a distracted world?
Drawing from Ephesians 5:15-18, we were reminded that spiritual drift rarely happens all at once. It occurs little by little when we stop paying attention to our walk, our time, and our thoughts.
We were encouraged to watch our walk, redeem the time, and guard our minds, because if the enemy can shape our thinking, he can influence our living.
The message also challenged us to examine our relationship with God. Many of us have enough faith for Jesus to be our Savior, but we struggle to let Him be Lord. We want His voice, but often resist His Word. Yet true faith is more than belief, it is obedience. As James reminds us, faith without works is dead.
The good news is that the Christian life was never meant to be sustained by willpower alone. As Zechariah 4:6 declares, it is “not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit.” Apart from Him, we can do nothing.
When life gets difficult, we don’t endure through determination alone. We endure through the work of the Holy Spirit, producing joy, gratitude, humility, and submission in our lives.
One of the most powerful reminders from today was this:
The greatest evidence of the Spirit’s presence is not what happens to you, but what happens in you and through you.
May we stay close to the Lord this week, live intentionally, and refuse to drift.
