Spiritual Battles
3. “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.
4. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,
5. casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,”
II Corinthians 10:3-5
The Bible says there is nothing new under the sun. That includes how we fight our spiritual battles. Everyday, we fight them at work, at home, with friends, family, co-workers, and everything in between.
The problem is, we use fleshly tactics that result in a complete waste of time or a bandaid to cover up the problem. The result is another miserable day where we’re left drained and aggravated. We become prisoners to a secular world, because we’re using the wrong weapons.
These verses tell us very plainly that we cannot win if we are fighting our battles this way. I am a big advocate for fixing our minds on Christ and the positive things of life. I’m often told “I am the way I am; I can’t help it” or “God made me this way.”
No He didn’t.
This is a lie that Satan has convinced us to believe, and we’re functioning under a stronghold. The first step is to stop believing the lie, and realize we need God to help us break the cycle. This is the hardest step because it means humbling ourselves and admitting we can’t get it done. We must look at it like an addiction. It isn't viewed that way, but it's harming your body all the same. Negativity is a habit, therefore, positivity can be a habit too. But it takes work.
I want to urge you today to take the first step in allowing God to take control of your life. Stop allowing Satan to dictate your mind and continuing in the cycle of unhappiness. Joy is attainable, but you must be willing to put yourself second.
