Yesterday at Mass we heard the familiar story of the disciples on the road to Emmaus. Jesus walked beside them and they spoke to one another but they did not recognize him.

In his homily at 10am, Fr. Michael reminded us that Luke gives us the formula for recognizing the risen Christ - for feeling the "burning in our hearts" like the disciples.

The question is not "IS Jesus going to appear?"

Jesus is present in our gathering, in the telling of our stories and in the breaking of the bread. The risen Christ is everywhere! The risen Christ is HERE!

Do we recognize Him? Do we perceive Him? Do we take the time in our days to look around and truly open our eyes to all that He has done for us? We, like the men on the road to Emmaus, are walking the winding road of life. Feel your hearts burning, friends. We're not walking the road alone.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful. And enkindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.

Let us pray.

Oh God Who by the light of the Holy Spirit Did instruct the hearts of the faithful. Grant us in the same Spirit To be truly wise and to ever rejoice in His consolation. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
