Heavenly Father,
As a new school year begins, we come before You with grateful hearts, lifting up every student, teacher, staff member, and parent in our church and throughout our community.
Lord, go before them.
For our students, calm the nervous hearts and fill them with excitement for what is ahead. Give them courage as they walk into new classrooms, meet new teachers, make new friends, and face new challenges. Remind them that they are never walking those hallways alone—You are with them.
Help them to be kind when kindness isn't easy.
Brave when they feel afraid.
Confident when they doubt themselves.
And a light when someone around them needs hope.
Protect their hearts, their minds, and their bodies. Surround them with good friendships and people who will encourage them. Give them wisdom to make good choices and the courage to stand firm in who You have created them to be.
Lord, we pray for our teachers and school staff. Give them patience on the long days, wisdom in the difficult moments, and joy in the little victories. When they feel tired or unseen, remind them that the work they are doing matters. Help them see each child through Your eyes and give them opportunities to encourage, inspire, and make a difference.
We pray for every parent and caregiver sending a child back to school. For the parents excited for this new season and the ones struggling to let go, give them peace. Help us trust You with our children even when they are outside of our care. Give us wisdom to know when to step in, when to listen, when to encourage, and when to simply pray.
Father, we ask Your protection over our schools. Let our classrooms be places of safety, learning, laughter, growth, compassion, and belonging. Protect every bus ride, playground, classroom, lunchroom, practice, rehearsal, and after-school activity.
And above all, may this school year be about more than grades, accomplishments, and schedules.
May it be a year when our children and adults know You more deeply, love others more boldly, and recognize that wherever they go, they carry the light of Jesus with them.
When the days are wonderful, may we praise You.
When the days are difficult, may we lean on You.
When we don't know what comes next, may we trust You.
Lord, bless this new school year.
Bless our students.
Bless our teachers.
Bless our staff.
Bless our parents and families.
Go before them, walk beside them, and remind them every single day that they are loved, they have a purpose, and they are never alone.
We place this school year completely in Your hands.
In Jesus' name.
