Thomas M. Jerpbak Bio
Chagrin Falls native Tom Jerpbak has had a touch of Indiana Jones in him since he was a child. A graduate of Chagrin Falls High School, he attended Ashland College, where he received his BS degree in 1971, majoring in Business Management. After working as an Assistant Buyer for Towmotor Corporation for 13 years, he made a major career change in 1988, when he opened Ye Olde Oaken Bucket Antiques in Painesville.
While he closed the physical doors of the antique shop at the end of 2017, Tom remains active and available – by appointment only -- to existing as well as new customers at his new office location at 41 E. Erie Street in Painesville. He may be reached at 440/354-0007. His career in buying and selling antiques provided him many opportunities to explore and discover antiques, while at the same time assisting people in determining the best course of action when faced with emptying out homes that belonged to aging relatives. In addition, his knowledge about coins, a special interest since he was 8 years old, allows him to appraise, buy, and sell coins of all types. As a past president of the North East Ohio Antique Dealers Assn., Tom is well known and respected in the area for his knowledge about both antiques and coins. He is available for talks at libraries, senior centers, churches, and other venues where those interested in antiques, collectibles, coins, as well as scrap gold and silver jewelry gather.
Tom continues to work with families to recommend the most effective options for dispersing antiques, personal property, jewelry, etc., from estates. These options may include dealing with trusted auction houses, liquidators, collectors, or charities. He also has an extensive network of reputable jewelers who deal with high end pieces and can offer realistic and reasonable prices.
