On Sunday morning, October 4, 2026, Village Missionary Pastor D. Keith Walker did “Search the Scriptures.” The Children’s Sermon question in both services was “What were Jesus' last few words to His disciples?”.
At the 8:00 service he also answered these questions:
1) “When studying the family tree of King David I find details in 2 Samuel 5:13-16; 1 Chronicles 3:4-9; and 1 Chronicles 14:3-7. Why are the lists not identical? Even though many of the names are the same in each list, 2 Samuel only gives 11 names, whereas the two lists in 1 Chronicles each have 13 names. And even the two lists in 1 Chronicles do not fully match up. One has Shimea but the other has Shammua; one has Elishama but the other has Elishua; in chapter 3 the name Eliphelet is listed twice, but in chapter 14 there is first an Elpelet, then at the end an Eliphelet.”
2) “What is the meaning of ‘lifted his heel against me’? (John 13:18; Psalm 41:9) Is this some sort of ancient custom or tradition?”
3) “What does the Bible say about the age of creation? Is the universe billions of years old (as scientists tell us), or only thousands of years old (as some teach that the Bible says)?”
And at the 10:45 service he also answered these questions:
1) “What does the Bible say about How and when you can know for sure you are saved?”
2) “If there is only one God, why are there so many churches, denominations, and religions?”
3) “I don't understand the message in Romans 10:6-8.”
