CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION at ST. JOHN’s immediately after the 9:30am Mass (weather permitting)
Tomorrow, Sunday, June 7, 2026, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi).

On this beautiful feast, the faithful who devoutly participate in a solemn Eucharistic procession can obtain a plenary indulgence — the complete remission of all temporal punishment due to sin.

This indulgence is a tremendous gift from the Church, rooted in the infinite merits of Jesus in the Eucharist. As St. Thomas Aquinas wrote in the hymn Lauda Sion: “This is the Bread of Life, the true Body of Christ.”

How to Obtain the Plenary Indulgence:

✅ Devoutly join a Corpus Christi Eucharistic Procession (inside or outside the church).
✅ Go to Confession (about 20 days before or after).
✅ Receive Holy Communion (ideally on the day itself).
✅ Pray for the intentions of the Pope (e.g., one Our Father + one Hail Mary).

✝️ Let us honor Jesus truly present in the Blessed Sacrament and draw closer to His Sacred Heart. The Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith!

In these difficult times, when temptations of lust and impurity are everywhere, the Church turns to Saint Raphael the Archangel as a strong heavenly protector of purity.

Why is St. Raphael the patron saint against lust?

In the Book of Tobit in the Bible, the demon Asmodeus — a spirit of lust and destruction — had killed seven husbands of Sarah on their wedding night. When young Tobias was to marry Sarah, the same deadly demon threatened him.

God sent Saint Raphael to accompany Tobias on his journey. Raphael taught Tobias how to drive away the demon Asmodeus through prayer and purity, and he helped Tobias enter into a holy, blessed marriage rooted in chastity rather than lust.

Because of this powerful biblical story, St. Raphael is invoked as the healer of God and the defender of chastity. He is especially called upon by those struggling with po*******hy, impure thoughts, lustful desires, and sexual addiction.

------------
A Prayer for Purity:

Saint Raphael the Archangel, Heavenly physician and defender of chastity, I humbly ask your powerful intercession. Protect my heart and mind from every impure thought and temptation. Heal what is wounded in me, strengthen my will, and guide me toward true purity and holiness. By the grace of God, help me live in freedom and love as God intended. Amen.

If you’re fighting this battle right now, know that you are not alone. Call upon St. Raphael daily — he is a very effective and compassionate intercessor.

Jesus Cares: In the Temple area the Jewish faithful could find large receptacles available to receive their monetary offerings to the Lord. Jesus “sat down opposite” these receptacles and “observed how the crowd put money into the treasury.” Jesus is truly interested in our lives, just as he shows his interest in these people who are coming to make their offerings to God in the Temple. Our lives matter to him. Our choices matter to him. He always has his eyes on us, not like a judge at the Olympics, looking for all the flaws in a performance, but like a father and a brother and a friend. His eyes, as he watches us, are filled with the light and warmth of love, with the eagerness of someone who believes in us and hopes that we will live our lives well. As we make our way through each day, as ordinary and mundane as each day may seem on the outside, Jesus is with us, attentively accompanying us and deeply caring about every encounter, every decision, every challenge, every triumph.

Mark 10:46-52

As Jesus was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a sizable crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind man, the son of Timaeus, sat by the roadside begging. On hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, son of David, have pity on me.” And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he kept calling out all the more, “Son of David, have pity on me.” Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take courage; get up, Jesus is calling you.” He threw aside his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus. Jesus said to him in reply, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man replied to him, “Master, I want to see.” Jesus told him, ‘Go your way; your faith has saved you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed him on the way.

When Bartimaeus responded to Jesus’ call, “he threw aside his cloak” and followed him. The cloak of Bartimaeus represented his old life, which he tossed aside as he “sprang up” to go to Jesus. Are we ready to set aside our past, our sin and darkness, and whatever is blinding us to the love of Jesus? He is calling us to surrender our brokenness and come to him: the source of consolation, healing, peace, and hope in our life.
