All are welcome to our weekly Dharma service this Sunday at 10 am! Please join us for moments to calm the mind, reflect, and listen to the timeless wisdom of the Buddhist teachings. As we’re in the midst of graduation season, Rev. JP’s Dharma message will look at the Shin Buddhist lessons we can glean from the rituals of graduation. Let’s hear it for the class of 2026!

And, speaking of graduations, all temple members who have graduating students in your family are invited to contact the office so they can be recognized at our Dads ‘n’ Grads service on June 14.

Who wants to battle the traffic getting to Dodgers Stadium? Not us! Let SFVHBT bring the ballgame experience to you without all the hassle!

We invite you to our next sangha gathering, the Dodgers Watch Party, after service on 6/14/26 after service, when we’ll watch our guys take on the Chicago White Sox. Tickets are $30 per person and you’ll get to enjoy the game with all of your favorite ballpark foods and other treats. This is part of our Drop My Ego series which aims to bring our community together to learn something new, gain a new experience, and strengthen our connections! It’s through sangha that we experience the wisdom of the Buddha and Dharma. To RSVP, send us a DM or email [email protected].

All are welcome to our weekly service, starting at 10 am tomorrow. From the stresses of daily life to the uncertainty of the world we live in, we all could use moments of calm, clarity, and connection. We hope you’ll join us to find those moments together! Whether you’re a first time visitor, long-time member, or somewhere in between, expect to be welcomed by our warm sangha and opportunities to call the mind through silent reflection, chanting, and listening to the timeless wisdom of the Buddha in Yukari sensei’s dharma message.

Hello Crafters!

Are you looking for a creative and meditative outlet? If so, we’ve got great news for you! Our next Craft Day will be Sunday, May 24th, after service. We will continue working on our Kumihimo bracelets. If you would like to learn how, please bring a Kumihimo round disc and we will be happy to show you how to make a pretty bracelet. (Kumihimo discs are available online or at Michael’s.)

If you’d like, feel free to bring in your current craft project and work on that instead. This is a time to socialize and exchange ideas! The Craft Days are totally free, but we ask that you bring in a salad ingredient to supplement our makeshift salad bar. DM us to RSVP or email [email protected].

Happy Birthday, Shinran! Please join us tomorrow for a very special celebration of the birth of Venerable Shinran, the father of our school of Buddhism. A medieval Japanese monk, he spent decades chasing enlightenment only to realize that we can all use a little help.

Following what we call the Pure Land path, he awoke to and articulated the timeless teachings that Immeasurable Light and Life shine on our path always. This limitless Wisdom expressed through Compassion, that we call Amida, guides us towards our spiritual liberation unconditionally. When we, too, awaken to this reality we can live lives of awe, joy, and gratitude. So, tip of the hat to you, Shinran!

Join us for our dharma service and a tasty luncheon after!
