Everything into Jesus’ Hands (Scotty Smith)
“The Father loves his Son and has put everything into his (Jesus’) hands” (Jn.3:35). “No one can sn**ch them (you and me) from my (Jesus’) hand.” Jn. 10:28). “He (Jesus) laid his right hand on me, saying, ‘Fear not, I am the first and the last’” (Rev.1:17)
Lord Jesus, I am so thankful for your hands this morning—for your merciful and mighty grip on all things. I am grateful to be able to sing with peace and release... “Those He saves are His delight, He will hold me fast. He will hold me fast. He will hold me fast. For my Savior loves me so, He will hold me fast.” Hallelujah, and thank you.
Jesus, we don't have control over the number and nature of our days before you call us Home, but you do. Fill the ones you've marked for us with well-timed grace, greater love for you, and confidence in your sovereign rule.
We don't have power over the hearts and choices of our family and friends, but you do. Constantly remind us you're the author and editor of both their stories and ours—not merely the One who cleans up messes behind us. Free us to love as you love us.
We haven’t been entrusted with determining world history, tomorrow’s disappointments, or next week’s surprises. And though we sometimes wish we could be the Potter, not the clay, we are so glad our Father has put everything into your hands. Jesus, you are holding us fast. Yours is the grip of grace and kindness. Thank you, and So Very Amen.
