hope sent .... sending cards of love and encouragement to anyone that could use a little extra. Hope Sent was born in 2012. THIS is the purpose of Hope Sent.

I got this idea - why not send cards to people who are hurting, who feel alone, who can't find the light inside their dark? I know what it means to be one of those people. And I know what a life-changer it is when you realize - somebody sees me. Our heart begins to beat again and there is a flicker of hope, the beginnings of smiles. To help the heart beat again. To ignite the flicker of hope. To r

elease the beginnings of smiles. It's easy. Fill out a card request form. I have the link in the NOTES section. It can be card for you or someone you know. I ask for the recipients name, address, and a little background on what is happening - and that is optional to give. Once I receive the request, I sit down and I pray. I pray for the person, for the situation. I ask God for comfort, wisdom, hope, LOVE. And then I write the card. I write what God puts on my soul. I write what every heart longs to know - You are loved. You are seen. You are not alone. I do not preach. I encourage. I do not give advice. I send hope. One of the greatest gifts is just knowing someone has whispered your name, someone has taken a hold of your situation and lifted it up, way up, with open hands. Cards that go out are anonymous. Four locations.
Same meaning.
Four different greetings.
Zero envelopes ✌🏼

I felt these in my bones.
Which one are you?
I am, “dear struggling human who is taking it day-by-day with shaky hope....”
I don’t know who is going to stay healthy
and who will get sick,
who will remain with us
and who will pass.
What I DO know is we have TODAY;
to tell someone we love them,
to write that letter,
to read that book,
to play that guitar,
to plant those flowers,
to watch that sunrise.

There is joy for YOU.
Even here.

A small stack of cards is being sent to Arizona. This little nugget is one of them.
It’s the one with the least amount of words.
It’s also the one that made me cry.
Has anyone ever experienced this? Prayers answered but so far from what you were asking for that
maybe you thought God forgot about you?
maybe you thought He was taking sides?
maybe you thought you weren’t good enough?

Yep. Same here.

And then a little bit of time goes on and I see,
He didn’t forget about me,
He didn’t take sides,
And
I am worthy.
He. Makes. All. Things. New.

I’ve never been to Italy and I don’t write in Italian but THAT DOESN’T MATTER because LOOK!
Someone else does. 🙌🏼🙌🏼 on the other side of the world. 🌍💌 .
People are people. We all love and hurt and despair and hope.
Thankful for and her heart for light and a suitcase with .
Ever so thankful for and what God placed on this undeserving heart so many years ago. The Bible is full of every day people who f**k up but still love the Lord. It is full of people who make mistakes but grab hands with other mistake-makers and say, “Here. Here’s a way that gives peace and joy and all the love I ever wanted. Let’s go.” .
Everyday people.
Hope is for everyone.

A lovely fellow is traveling to Europe in a few weeks.
She asked for more cards so she can leave a and then also asked if I’d like to write a few cards and she could leave those as well.
My heart almost burst open.
My words taped somewhere to a wall or a bench or a tree in Europe? 💌
What a kindness to me. What a gift!
I don’t normally pre-write cards unless they are for a retreat but this morning I filled up my coffee, streamed and closed my eyes.
The words came.
And also something a little different.
Do you see it?
I chose this card to post because, well, someone lovely out there needs to know it. .

All that love is coming back to you.
Do not worry.

Here’s what I know:
It’s really, really, hard to leave a card without anyone looking at you in a place that sells everything from car tires to rainbow cakes.
The Boom Chika POP display was the best I could do.
Here’s what I also know:
I wasn’t planning on leaving this card and didn’t get the words in my head until my feet were already out of the car.
Whoever finds it -> God wanted you to know fiercely you are loved.

Listen.
This past week has been hard and wonderful. Feelings have been jumping all over like popcorn.
In the middle of hard things, remember, feelings change.
And family? Family is hard and wonderful and yours. Love them.
Sometimes that looks like hugs and laughter.
Sometimes that looks like distance but in all of it ... I pray your heart is free.

I have so many
words
about this
day
and this
place
and ALL the people
Jesus loves
and the church
doesn’t know
what
to do with.
A reminder:
In all the
places
your feet take you
and your eyes
cannot see,
people
are
suffering.
They hide it behind
hard faces
and
locked-up hearts,
knowing smirks
and laughter too loud,
silent tears
and mouths
that won’t
utter
a
defense.
We are all guilty of walking too fast,
averting our gaze,
and missing
the ones
God sent his son for.
Don’t miss them because
you are
too busy,
too privileged,
too justified
In
your
own
mind,

to pay attention.
Also.
If you smile,
you may get a smile back.
you may receive the gift
of God’s chosen,
seeing
YOU. .
