St. Patrick was a 5th-century Christian missionary and bishop credited with spreading Christianity in Ireland, and he is celebrated annually on March 17, the anniversary of his death.
Life of St. Patrick
St. Patrick was born in Roman Britain in the late 4th century, likely around 385 AD, to a wealthy Christian family. At the age of 16, he was kidnapped by Irish raiders and enslaved in Ireland, where he worked as a shepherd for six years. During this time, he deepened his Christian faith through prayer and reflection. After escaping back to Britain, he trained for the priesthood and later returned to Ireland as a missionary to convert the Irish to Christianity, establishing churches, schools, and monasteries across the country. He is believed to have died on March 17, around 461 AD, which is why his feast day is celebrated on that date
