"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." (Proverbs 9:10).
'The fear of the Lord' is not understood to mean to be afraid of the Lord. Rather is it meant to mean to respect and knowledge the purpose and plan that God has over your life.
"But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure, then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy, good fruit, impartial and sincere." (James 3:17).
Each of these characteristics mentioned in James is its own challenge to pursue. And that's the point. To fully manifest God's wisdom in our lives is to ask and determine if what we say and do is consistent with manifesting God's wisdom in our living in our world. Quite the challenge for sure.
Be kind. God loves you. God is in charge.

"May the God of hope bring you such joy and peace in your faith that the power of the Holy Spirit will remove all bounds to hope." (Romans:15:13).
God is always wanting to lead us to our next better place. God encourages us to trust him that no matter where we are he wants us to experience more joy and peace. Trust in the Lord
Be kind. God love you and God is in charge.

" ... those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."( Isa. 40:31. NIV.)
The Oxford Dictionary definition of 'hope' is "a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen." e.g. 'I hope my team will win their game this weekend.'
In the bible to 'hope in the Lord' is to live with the certainty of the fulfillment of the promises that God has made to us. Hence we are able to soar like eagles and renew our strength in the Lord even as the circumstances of our lives appear difficult and hard to engage. God's promises are God saying that he is watching over us always and forever. God is good. God loves us and God is in charge.
Be kind. God loves you and God is in charge.

Jesus was asked "Which is the first of all the commandments?" Jesus replied, ... you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: You must love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these." (Mark 12:29-31).
To love your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength is to enter into an unconditional love relationship with God; just as He loves you. To love your neighbor as you love yourself is to commit your relationship with your neighbors to the same level of love that you want to receive from them (Do unto others as you would have them do unto you).
This summary from Jesus is demanding , but as you pursue to follow God's directions He will bless you with all His love. Let's all try to follow God's instructions for our relationship with Him and with all of his children throughout hia world.
Be kind. God loves you and God is in charge.

Almighty and eternal God, so draw our hearts to you, so guide our minds, so fill our imaginations, so control our wills, that we may be wholly yours, utterly dedicated to you; and then use us, we pray, as you will, and always to your glory, and the welfare of your people; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen. (A Prayer of Self-Dedication, BCP, pp. 832-833).
Are we willing to dedicate all that we are to God's direction over our lives? Are we willing to pursue God's purpose and plan over our lives and give up our desires to accomplish God's desires for us? Lets be willing to do so and receive God's blessings as our payments for our faithfulness.
Be kind. God loves you and God is on charge.

"Do not be envious when some become
rich, or when the grandeur of their house increases; for they will carry nothing away at their death; nor will their grandeur follow them, though they thought highly of themselves while they lived, and were praised for their success. They shall join the company of their forbears, who will never see the light again. Those who are honored, but have no understanding, are like the beasts that perish." (Psalm 49:16-20).
We live in a world that bestows status on wealth, political power, and even sport's championships. The psalmist makes it clear that all of this is temporary. The understanding that he references is right relationship with our Lord. Let us be those who pursue a relationship with God that lasts forever
Be kind. God loves you and God is in charge.

"Come, bless the Lord, all you servants of the Lord, who stands by night in the house of the Lord! Lift your hands to the holy place, and bless the Lord. May the Lord, maker of heaven and earth bless you from Zion." (Psalm 134).
This psalm is one of many that calls us to bless (thank and praise) the Lord for his what he does for us.
Life presents many challenges and difficulties. Even as these events and people provide hard choices and hard results let us always praise the Lord for the care he brings to us. God's love is over us and upon us always.
Be kind. God loves us and God is in charge.

"Nevertheless, be patient with those are badly off, do not keep them waiting on your generosity. For the commandment's sake go to the poor man's help, do not turn him away empty-handed in his need." (Ecclesiasticus 29:8-9).
This instruction points to a concern for those in need. Yes, 'the poor will always be with us'. And yes, we should always be committed to helping them in their time of need. To ignore or criticize the poor is not consistent with what God wants from us. Let us always find ways to help those less forunate than we are.
Be kind. God loves you and God is in charge.

"I lift up my eyes to the hills; from where is my help to come? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved and he who watches over you will not fall asleep. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; it is he who shall keep you safe. The Lord shall watch over your going out and your coming in, from this time forth for evermore." (Psalm 121:1-3, 7-8).
God is in charge. Yes, God is in charge. Even when our lives and our society are in turmoil, God is in charge. Even when evil is threatening us, God is in charge. Thank you Lord for watching over us.
Be kind. God loves you and God is in charge!

Hallelujah! Praise God in his holy temple; praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts; praise him for his excellent greatness. Praise him with the blast of the ram's horn; praise him with lyre and harps. Praise him with timbrel and dance; praise him with strings and pipe. Praise him with resounding cymbals; praise him with loud-sounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Hallelujah." (Psalm 150).
We live in dangerous and challenging times. In our country and throughout the world people are clamoring for power over other people. All sides think they are right and the other side is wrong. What a mess we are all going through. And yet, no matter which direction we end up with - God's in charge and we are not. I say it all the time, as much for myself as for those who hear me. Let me say it again; God's in charge and we are not. HALLELUJAH! PRAISE THE LORD!
Be kind. God loves you and God is in charge.

"Be joyful in the Lord all you lands; serve the Lord with gladness and come before his presence with a song. Know this: The Lord himself has made us, and we are his; we are his people and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise; give thanks to him and call upon his Name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his faithfulness endures from age to age." (Psalm 100).
A short, but very encouraging psalm. No matter the tough times, no matter the challenges you may be facing, no matter the difficult choices confronting you, God has a desire to guide you in the right direction. Let God guide you and follow his lead. God loves you and his faithfulness endures from age to age.
Be kind. God loves you and God is in charge.

"...Choose you this day whom you will serve ... as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." (Joshua 24:15).
Gathering for weekly worship and at other times for group activities like bible study are important aspects of our relationship with our Lord. Joshua also rightfully issues a challenge to us concerning our daily understanding of our relationship with our Lord. Each morning when we awake the question is "Who will you serve today? Your own desires (and temptations), or what God would have you do? Yes, it is a daily commitment to God's desires for your daily activities. Choose the Lord.
Be kind. God loves you and God is in charge.
