The All-Out Assault on Our Children
[Excerpts from 3/1/2022 article by Michael Brown] [Copied from Larry Page, Arkansas Faith and Ethic Council]

Satan is not just trying to silence the next generation. He is seeking to wipe it out, declaring an all-out war on our children. They are being slaughtered in the womb. They are being kidnapped and sold into s*x slavery. They are being abused and neglected and used. They are lost and lonely, depressed and suicidal. They kill themselves. Their innocence is being robbed.

We can say that no generation in American history has been subject to such a concerted attack. Just put yourself in the place of a child today, starting your dangerous journey to adulthood from within the womb. From the moment of conception, your life is at risk. Will you make it out of the womb?

The demonic attack against you is especially acute if you are a black baby. You have less than a 75 percent chance of making it out of the womb alive because of abortion. As a result, “According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, abortion kills more black people than HIV, homicide, diabetes, accident, cancer, and heart disease… combined.”
Let’s look at some nationwide trends regarding su***de. One website explains:
Su***de is the second leading cause of death for ages 10–24. Su***de is the second leading cause of death for college-age youth and ages 12–18. More teenagers and young adults die from su***de than from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, influenza, and chronic lung disease, combined. Each day in our nation, there are an average of over 3,703 su***de attempts by young people grades 9–12

Along with issues like su***de, another website explains that, in the next twenty-four hours in the United States 2,795 teenage girls will become pregnant, 15,006 teens will use drugs for the first time, 3,506 teens will run away, and 2 teens will be murdered.
What about children being s*xually abused? During a one-year period in the U.S., 16% of youth ages 14 to 17 had been s*xually victimized; Over the course of their lifetime, 28% of U.S. youth ages 14 to 17 had been s*xually victimized; Children are most vulnerable to CSA [child s*xual abuse] between the ages of
To every parent reading these words, every educator, every coach or mentor, every big brother or sister, every responsible adult or older teen, I ask: Isn’t it time to say, “Enough is enough!”? Isn’t it time to shout from the rooftops, “Not on my watch!”?

What, then, must we do to protect the most vulnerable ones in our society? How do we save them from a demonically planned destiny and send them out to fulfill their God-given future? It starts right here, with each of us. It starts with holy indignation. With broken hearts. With godly determination. With Holy Spirit resolve. It starts right here with every one of us doing what we can to turn this sickeningly destructive tide. Satan must take his hands off our children!

A Christmas Reflection – The Eye of the Beholder – Luke 2:25-38

You are most likely aware of the quote, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” Many other things are in the eye of the beholder. In sporting events referees and umpires make calls as they see them. Fans on the other hand may “behold” the action on the playing field in a very different way. (Boo! Get some good glasses. How much are they paying you for that. Sound familiar)
Christmas is also from the eye of the beholder. Children behold Christmas through innocent and hopefully not so streetwise eyes. Some behold Christmas as an exhausting and expensive indulgence. Some behold Christmas as a family enriching holiday. Others view Christmas strictly as a commercial enterprise that boosts the profits of businesses. While others view Christmas from a spiritual or religious perspective. They emphasize “CHRIST” in Christmas.
Has it not always been this way, even as we read through the pages of Scripture? The Magi beheld a star, and it communicated to the birth of a king. It sent them on a journey. Others saw the star, and thought “isn’t that unusual,” but they did not give it too much thought. The shepherds beheld the wonder of the angelic announcement and went in search of Jesus. Many heard their testimony of all they saw and heard, but there is no indication that anyone else sought out the babe in a manger.
When Mary and Joseph took Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem days later for His dedication as prescribed by Old Testament law, there were crowds of people teeming in the Temple area. Luke 2:25-38 records two adults that were among the people present that day. They are Simeon and Anna. We know nothing else about these two than what we read in these few verses. Luke describes them as faithful, Spirit filled, and obedient followers of God.
As both beheld Jesus at separate times, they offered praise to God for what they understood to be the long-awaited Messiah. Numerous individuals beheld a baby being dedicated in the Temple that day. More than likely, there were other babies also being dedicated. But Simeon and Anna beheld God at work. They understood that the hope of the world had been born. They were moved to rejoicing worship and declaration of truth at the appearing of Jesus that day. Simeon and Anna certainly beheld Christmas in the Temple on that uniquely special day.
The question we each must ponder is this, “Am I beholding the Savior in my observance of Christmas this year?” Perhaps more importantly, are you prepared to behold Jesus on a daily basis? Simeon and Anna had prepared themselves for beholding Jesus. They did so by prayer, attentiveness to the Holy Spirit, and by obedience to God. They did not earn the right to behold Jesus, but they had prepared themselves to recognize Him when the opportunity arose.
This Christmas and beyond, are you preparing your heart to behold Jesus? It is a question we should ask each day, not just at Christmas.

A Reflection – Christmas Takes Planning

“It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” is one of the songs you will hear during this holiday season. Christmas music can be heard wherever you go, and various decorations adorn houses, shops, and city parks. Christmas decorations take time and effort. You cannot have an elaborate Christmas without preparation. It does not happen by accident.
God made preparation for the first Christmas. His preparations took thousands of years. Yet, when Jesus was born it appeared to be so simple and effortless. That is because everything was prepared perfectly. Paul wrote in Galatians 4:4-5, “But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.”
Paul was indicating that when everything was just right, God sent Jesus to be born. This had been an ongoing process since the fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden. Through generation after generation, the Lord was piecing together His plan for the salvation of mankind. The process was focused on God becoming a human, born in human form. Jesus is not only the babe in a manger, but His entire life on earth was a process of bringing God’s redemptive plan to fruition.
In Matthew 1:1-17 we discover the genealogy of Jesus Christ. By considering this listing of family members through the ages, one can perceive glimpses of the process God used in bringing about that first Christmas in Bethlehem.
The listing of individuals in this genealogy indicates that God was at work in the lives of people. The Lord was focused on transforming people by spiritual regeneration (salvation if you will). In order to do that He worked in the lives of people. These people were often marked and tainted by poor decisions, broken relationships, and outright disobedience to God. In other words, they were sinners. Hmm, aren’t we all?
To bring Jesus into the world to save sinners, God was at work in the lives of sinful people. Is that not a hopeful thought? Holy God working in the lives of broken people for the purpose of providing them with redemption. Jesus said His being on earth was to “seek and save that which is lost.” He also indicated that a doctor is for the sick, not for the healthy.
Christmas is a reminder that throughout centuries, God was working in and through people from all walks of life to prepare for Jesus to be born. At the perfect time all that God had been doing came together with Mary, Joseph, the Roman Empire, shepherds, and Wise Men. As each piece fell into place, Jesus was born. Christmas is not an accident. It is the perfect plan of Almighty God, Whose purpose is my salvation, your salvation, and the salvation of everyone else.
When you observe an elaborate Christmas display of lights and all that go with it, allow that to remind you of God’s perfect plan to redeem imperfect people.

A Christmas Reflection

“Starry, Starry Night” is the title of a popular song from the past. It is a song about Vincent van Gogh. I love that title because who of has not at one time or another stared into the wonder of the night sky. I can remember lying on my back on a side street watching the stars one night talking with a friend. We were able to pick out a satellite as it moved across the sky.
We are amazed at the vastness of our universe. The Bible declares that God created the heavens and the earth. Humanity has been enthralled by the night sky since the beginning of time. God affirmed His promise of becoming a great nation by asking Abraham to look at the night sky and count the stars. God related the number of stars to the number of people of faith that would follow Abraham. Moses reminded the Lord of that promise in Exodus 32:13. Also, you should consider David’s reflection on the heavens in Psalm 8.
It must have been a starry, starry night when the Magi, gazing into space saw the Christmas star. Those wise men from long ago knew that it was a unique but also a spiritual occurrence in nature. Matthew records what little we know of the event in his gospel, in Matthew 2:1-12.
There is mystery in that star. Was it a comet? Was it an alignment of planets or stars? Could it be that God created that star alone as a sign, much like the fire by night and the cloud by day that guided the Israelites in their wilderness wanderings. Whatever it was, there is no question to whom the star pointed. On that stary, stary night, the appearance of this particular star was for the purpose of pointing to Jesus Christ, Son of God, and future Savior of the world. Christmas continues to point to JESUS!
There is mystery in the wise men from the East or the Magi if you will. Who were they? Where did they come from? How many were there? We surmise three because there were three gifts. While we do not know the answers to those questions, we do not for certain they arose and followed the star to Jesus.
At this Christmas, when you look at the sky or when you think of the baby in a manger, will you pause to remember that Jesus is more. He is the Savior who died on the cross, arose from the grave, ascended into heaven where He is seated at the right hand of the Father, and one day He is coming again.
Merry Christmas.
