Sometimes it's so easy to get wrapped up in the moment of Christmas day that we lose sight of what it's all really about! Today we celebrate the birth of Christ... We celebrate the life that He lived.. We thank Him for the substutionary death that He died to cover our sins! We celebrate the first advent (coming) and look forward with great anticipation of the second advent that is foretold in the scriptures!

‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭1:12‭-‬17‬ ‭NIV‬‬
I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Merry Christmas all!!! And remember... Jesus loves you and so do I!

The duty of all who believe is to take the Word of God to all corners of the world, planting seeds of faith to everyone that we have the honor of coming in contact with.
This week, I was listening to a sermon and I was blown away with what God revealed to me! So often in our walk of faith we come upon a situation or person that needs the Word of God, and we hesitate because it is out of our comfort zone... we think "it's not my job to tell them about Jesus, I'm not a pastor" or "I don't know enough of the Bible, what if they ask me questions I can't answer"... I have great news, WE DON'T HAVE TO KNOW EVERYTHING!!! All we have to do is plant a seed and let God work in the situations and lives of those involved! If you don't know the answer, I know where you can find it! If you think it's not your job because you're not a pastor... think again! Matthew 28:18-20 says this "And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen."

We are called to spread the Word because without you, "How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?" Romans 10:14. Jesus came to seek and save the lost and I don't know about you, but I don't want to be the reason someone didn't hear about Jesus!

I love you guys!!!
PS. It's time to be disciples who make disciples!!!

Christians are not exempt from fear, worry, or pain. It is ingrained in our very Human Nature. But God tells us that when we're scared, worried, or hurt, that it's okay to lay those feelings on him! You see, we weren't made to carry this burden alone! When God created man he created him for fellowship and that purpose had never changed! He wants us to come to Him, like a child to their Father, and grab onto him for safety and reassurance.
We were not promised easy lives because of our choice to follow Christ, in fact we were promised the opposite! But we can rejoice, even in our darkest hours, because we have a Savior who is willing to step up and take our worries and fears and give us peace in the moment.

I have been struggling to transition to the non - public safety life, but even when I feel like my heart is breaking, I know that my redeemer is at work and making a way for me when there seems to be no way!

It's time to put your faith to work and trust in the Lord, especially when you're in the valley!

As I watched the music video Flawless by MercyMe this morning I was reminded that no matter how bad our history hurts, God his wiped it clean. He has removed it from our lives and the only thing that's left is the scar in our memory! When God forgives us, he removes the stain that that sin has left in our life and he prepares us for a new purpose!

Some of the most amazing people in the Bible allowed God to use them in spite of their past. Moses was a murderer! King David was an adulterer and led one of his friends to his death! Samson was a Pl***oy who wasted his talent! Matthew was a tax collector and stole from his own people! Paul was one of the biggest persecutors of Christians until he became one!

Don't let your past dictate your future! Don't let the things that you've done in the past define who you are today! When you accept Christ as your Lord and Savior, you die to your old self and are reborn a new creation!

Today, I challenge you to allow God to define who you are! Acknowledge that you are the child of the One True King! And praise Him for all He's done in your life!

Sometimes in life we focus on an immediate issue thinking that it's the worst thing possible. While we focus on this little issue and broadcast a warning to all of our friends, we sometimes miss a much bigger problem! We yell "HEY, DON'T DO THAT (insert sin here)" and never bother to ask if our friends even know Jesus! While we yell a warning that sin can hurt, we ignore that THE BRIDGE to salvation is out and our friends could die not knowing Jesus!

I pray you don't ever pass up the opportunity to share Jesus with someone, because you never know if their bridge is out and how close they are to disaster!

I don't usually do pre-made images, but youversion hit the nail on the head with this one!
I admit, boldly and at the top of my lungs, that I'm scared! My family and I are smack in the middle of one of the biggest changes we've ever experienced... New jobs, Xander graduating... It seems like it's the start of a while new life, because it is!
For the first time, we said "yes God" when he said follow me! We said yes to stepping out into the unknown, no matter what God wants us to do or where he puts us.
Every day I go to my new job scared that I might mess up, that I might not be good enough... And I am constantly reminded that I am right where God wants me... In his mighty hand!

I worry about my family and making sure they're provided for and God tells me "I've got this!"

My old soccer coach always told us during practice that we get really good at what we practice. In life if we practice worry or we practice fear we get good at it! We all worry, we all get scared... But when we practice giving our worries and fears to God, we get good at turning to Him in our time of need!

Today I choose to practice turning to God so that when the time comes and fear starts to creep in, God becomes my go to!!!

Don't worry, don't fear.... God has got you covered!

Question : With changes in technology we now have unlimited access to worship music and sermons online. Is it really necessary to go to church anymore?

Answer: God designed the church to focus on relationships and community. While we go to church to learn about Jesus, the church isn't just about the content, it's about its contents... The people! What if the people around you were just as important in building you up and showing you what it's like to belong to God's family as listening to the sermon?

One of my all time favorite songs, While I'm Waiting from the movie "Fireproof", came up on my playlist tonight and it came at the exact right moment. This song reminds me that waiting on the Lord to act in your life isn't always easy... In fact, sometimes it's painful. But here's the kicker, waiting on the Lord doesn't mean to sit idly by on the sidelines and do nothing, you still have to be obedient to God's call in your life. My favorite part of the song says "I will move ahead bold and confident. Taking every step in obedience while I'm waiting. I will serve You while I'm waiting. I will worship while I'm waiting. I will not faint. I'll be running the race even while I wait"

God works in His time, not ours. Moses had to wait 40 years in the desert... All the while he kept moving forward worshiping, praying, and serving as he waited.

As we wait on the Lord today, let's listen to His call and take that next step in obedience!

Our character defines who we are! Character, by the world's definition is "the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual". The easiest way to put it is that character is what you do when no one else is looking. Some of our character traits are learned, but most of them are earned... And these traits are not learned/earned overnight. They are earned through experience, hard work, and learning from past mistakes. When we talk about building Godly Character, we are talking about the process of becoming closer to God and relying on His help in resisting those things that would allow us to stumble and fall to temptation. We earn our character through practice. When we devote daily time to prayer, it becomes part of our character to turn to God in our time of need. When we devote time to daily read scripture, it becomes part of our character to imitate Christ and the examples that He set in the Word.
James 1:21-22 instructs us to "Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says." NKJV puts v22 this way "But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves."
Today is a great day to start a new habit! Start with 15 minutes in the Bible every day for the next 30 days and see how God changes your character!

As a sit in my living room reading a book about the failure of youth ministry (a book on how to combat the loss of faith as youth move forward from youth ministry) late on Saturday night, a short prayer in the book sparked a memory. As an 18 year old recruit in the US Army, I learned a phrase that now echoes in heart as a youth pastor... "Follow Me"!
This phrase was first documented in the Philippines in WWII by Maj. General Newman as he yelled for his men to "get the heck off the beach and follow me" (paraphrased). However, a phrase similar to this now drives my heart for our youth. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 11:1 as he said " follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ."

The bayonet on this patch now has a new meaning to me as well... It represents the "sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God".

While the appearance of this patch remains unchanged from the first time I was lucky enough to wear it, what it means in relation to my heart has changed forever. Before, I felt called to protect those who could not protect themselves, and now I must choose daily to put on my armor, pick up my sword, and be the example to our youth to lead them in a way worthy of the calling of Christ.

I pray that God gives me the strength to act and not react, the divine courage to remove from the youth ministry what needs to be removed, and the wisdom to build a youth ministry on the strong and eternal Foundation of His Word under the guidance of Christ himself!

Please continue to pray for us as we pray and prepare to lead and disciple our youth.

Have you ever had a friendship where it seemed like you were the only one putting in the work? The Bible tells us that "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity." Proverbs 17:17. When you invest in your friends, you are planting a seed of faith in their lives. They can see the light of Christ in your life and even though you may never realize it, you are making an impression in their heart. When we consistently show others the light of Christ, they begin to want what we have... Jesus! So don't ever stop loving others. Don't ever stop investing and planting seeds because when God touches their heart, and they turn toward Him, they will begin to follow the example of Christy's love that they saw in you!
