There is something holy about the splinters that come from carrying the cross God has assigned to you. The world may offer comfort, applause, riches, and temporary pleasure, but none of those things can compare to the peace that comes from walking closely with Christ. I would rather have weary hands from obedience than soft hands from compromise. I would rather bear the marks of sacrifice than wear the decorations of a world that is fading away.
Jesus never promised that following Him would be easy. In fact, He said, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me” (Luke 9:23). Cross-carrying requires endurance. It means standing for truth when it is unpopular, loving when it hurts, forgiving when it feels unfair, and trusting God when the road is steep. Sometimes the journey leaves splinters—wounds from betrayal, scars from hardship, tears from perseverance—but those splinters are evidence that you chose Christ over compromise.
Satan may offer shortcuts, temporary crowns, and glittering distractions, but everything he offers comes with chains attached. God, however, offers eternal life, purpose, peace, and joy that no darkness can steal. The enemy decorates people outwardly while emptying them inwardly. Jesus may call us to sacrifice outwardly, but He fills us inwardly with strength, grace, and hope.
Do not be discouraged by the weight of your cross. Every splinter is a reminder that you are walking the same road Jesus walked. The nails in His hands purchased your freedom, and the cross you carry is leading you closer to His heart. One day, every burden will be exchanged for a crown of righteousness, and every scar of obedience will testify of God’s faithfulness.
So keep carrying the cross. Keep choosing holiness over popularity, obedience over comfort, and truth over temptation. Because it is far better to have splinters in your hands from serving Jesus than to possess all the temporary treasures this world can offer and lose your soul.
Lord, give me the strength to carry my cross faithfully. Help me never trade Your purpose for the empty promises of this world. When the journey becomes difficult, remind me that obedience is always worth it. Let my life reflect Your glory, even through sacrifice. Amen.
