Where do the horses at Camp Wakonda come from? Glad you asked! The Johnson Family has owned and operated Dizzy Jay Farm since 2017, with the purpose of providing high quality horse experiences for riders of all ages. They also embark on the mission of rehabilitating horses that come from troubled situations, addressing physical health and emotional well-being of the animal. Danae was privileged to serve as the horsemanship director at Camp Wakonda in 2009 and continues to have a passion for the summer horse experience. The Johnsons love the way God can use his creation to reach the campers who attend Camp Wakonda each year. Zach and Danae reside in Amery, Wisconsin with their children, Burton [6] and Audra [8], 30 horses, Scottish Highland cows, goats, chickens, ducks, rabbits, guinea pigs, dogs, and cats.
"We are thrilled for the opportunity to have our horses included in the summer program and are praying for a blessed summer," says Danae.
Camp Wakonda is blessed to have access to excellent horses for our horsemanship program. A big thank you to the Johnsons at Dizzy Jay Farm for making that possible!
