Born without legs, a left arm, and with only a partial right arm, Clay Dyer has spent his life overcoming obstacles that might seem insurmountable to others. However, from an early age, his parents taught him to focus on what he could do, rather than what he couldn’t. SPIRITUAL IDENTITY

18 September 2024
Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God (Galatians 4:7)

As you consider the importance of your spiritual identity and the spiritual identity of your children, meditate on these passages:

The spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God (Romans 8:16)

For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ (Galatians 3:26,27)

And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God (Galatians 4:6,7)

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvellous light; for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy (1 Peter 2:9,10)

See how great a love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not appeared as yet what we shall be. We know that, when He appears, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him just as He is. And anyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure (1 John 3:1-3)

Mom and Dad, do you want your sons and daughters to purify themselves? Then find out who you are as a child of God, and help your children establish the same eternal relationship by discovering their identity in Him.

Lord, continue to show me who I am in Christ that I may encourage my children in their relationship with You.

When we come to the end of our resources, we discover God's resources. God will let us do our thing and patiently wait until self-interest and self-rule leave us spiritually and emotionally bankrupt. We can turn to God any time we weary of trying to run our own lives independently of Him. He doesn't force Himself on us; He just simply says, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him follow Me." Are you willing to forsake self-rule and follow Him?

The original Christians were called people or followers of The Way, meaning the way of Jesus.
Interestingly, it was the people observing their lifestyle (in community) that gave them their name.
