Preston First Church of God

Preston First Church of God We invite you to join us every Sunday for our worship service beginning at 11:00 a.m. First and foremost, the Church of God is a determinedly Christian church.

It is built upon the person of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The doctrines and practices of the church are based upon His teachings.

We’re beginning the season of planting; planting seed that will bring forth maybe 100 fold what was planted. Have you ever stopped to think, “what if I planted a thorn bush.” How would that turn out in the end?

Life is a lot like this, you reap what you sow! If you plant for eternity, you reap a good harvest; if you plant for temporal things, you reap a bad harvest.

The temptation of this world are going to come to you, but what will your response be when sin comes crouching at your door?

Christ came and defeated death, hell, and the grave, and has given His life in place of ours for sin to be abolished. Christ is enough!

Come out tomorrow to hear about what James has to say about sin and what Jesus has done on your behalf.

We see the glory of the sun, the glory of the moon, the glory of all that the eye can see; but have we ever considered the glory of God that shall be revealed when Jesus returns?

The weight of glory that will be displayed for all to see and when the sons of God shall be changed!

But this is only for those who patiently endure. Waiting for the promise of the Lord to be fulfilled; enduring trials and tribulations as a good soldier, even being called blessed in the Scriptures who patiently endure and persevere.

Are you among those that persevere? Are you among those who are called blessed?

Come tomorrow and fellowship with us as we worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Fellowship: 10am
Service: 11am

“It is not the bee’s touching of the flower that gathers the honey, but her abiding for a time upon the flower that draws out the sweet. It is not he that reads most, but he that meditates most, that will prove the choicest, sweetest, wisest and strongest Christian.” ——— Thomas Brooks

If you were to be asked, “who is Christ,” what would your answer be?

If a stranger asked, “what is Jesus doing now that He’s resurrected,” what would be your words?

Many know the Word of God, but do not know the God of the Word.

Do you truly know, the love of God in Christ?

Do you know what all Christ is doing for you now that you’re His kinsmen?

Come out tonight and learn more about what all Christ has done and is currently doing on the behalf of those born again.

Tomorrow is mother’s day. My mother became a Christian just a handful of years before cancer robbed her of many years. But what I remember most about my mother’s walk with the Lord was her unwavering prayers to see and have her family beside her in church on Sunday morning.

If you still have your mother, please join her in going to a Sunday service where she goes to church, or find one to attended together. It will mean more to her than flowers and may even be the beginning of a life together in heaven.

Tomorrow we will be discussing the trails that believers face and the fruit of perseverance that comes from them.

Being a disciple of Christ is one of the hardest things to ever be; but, it will also be the most rewarding of anything in life, if we finish the race.

Christian, you might feel stuck right now; exhausted, trapped, overwhelmed, burdened beyond relief. But be reassured, Christ has not forgotten you!

Sometimes the greatest mountain top experience, begin in the calmest valleys; the greatest peaks are only reached by the hardest climbs! God is doing something with your trials that you yourself could not do. Trust Him! He has better for you than you want for yourself.

Don’t forget about our Mother’s Day breakfast tomorrow morning starting 10am!

How strange would it be if, when someone receives tragic news or has a bad day, the first thing you hear them say is, “Wow, what a joy! This will bring great results in the future”? You may be tempted to look at them a little funny.

Yet, this is the extortion that our brother in Christ, James, is giving us.

Life is hard. Plain and simple. Some of us are dealt lemons that are more sour than others, and we may not always have enough sugar to make lemonade.

But through it all, God tells us through the epistle of James, that we are to count all trials— even those that threaten to wreck our lives— as pure joy. Why?

Just as some plants need to be buried in the deepest soil to produce the best results, so we count our worst trials as necessary for the strengthening of the roots of our faith. When you’ve got surface-level soil—and surface level trials— you’ll have shallow roots, and a shallow faith. It won’t weather the storms and winds of life.

Are you going through something that feels impossible? Do you feel as though you’re barely hanging on? Do you feel alone?
You are not; ever.
God sees you, and He’s not watching from afar. He’s with you, being the water that quenches the barren soil you’re being buried in.
He will sustain you.
He will uphold you.
He will cause you to grow.

Trust in Him, friend! These trials are bringing you closer.

“I have learned to kiss the waves that slam me into the Rock of Ages.”
—Charles Spurgeon

Coffee and fellowship begins at 10am tomorrow; service starts at 11. We hope to see you there! God bless you.

•How does your church praise?

•If I come to your church, will the worship be good?

•Our praise team is great! You have to come and hear them.

In today culture, so much emphasis is put on the praises of the church; but what about prayer? Praise is great; don’t get me wrong; but it seems, we have one without the other.

So, my prayers are that we will change that and implement more prayers at our homes, church, work, schools, and all the way up to the top of the list!

Leonard Ravenhill, said that if you want to see how important God is, attend Wednesday evening prayer service.

God is infinitely worthy of a mid-week prayer service.

You can attend and are welcome; even if you aren’t a member of Preston church. Please, come and be with us to make prayers of intercession and to pray down strong holds.

“Lord, I don’t have much…it’s so little.”
Jesus says, “That’s fine. Hand it to me, and I’ll make something much bigger.”

How many times have you come to Jesus feeling like a failure, like you have nothing to give except your measly leftovers? How many times have you brought Him crumbs, thinking, “what on earth could He possibly do with this? Why would He want my little amount?”

And yet, in the Gospels, we see two separate accounts of Jesus taking the tiny bit that someone gives Him, and multiplying it to feed thousands.

Jesus doesn’t need your perfect; He doesn’t need your shined-up best. He just needs you to trust Him with anything and everything you have. Whatever you give to Him will not return empty or wasted; all things will be used to glorify God and build the kingdom. That means:
•your sins and mistakes
•your past
•your sufferings
•your sorrows
•your blown efforts
•your doubts and fears
•your frustrations

Place all these things and more into the hands of a capable God. He knows how to take scraps and turn it into a banquet.

Coffee and fellowship starts at 10am, service starts at 11am. We hope to see you there! God bless you.

“When you pray.” Prayer, seems to be only used in desperate times. What could happen if instead of using it as a parachute, we used it how it’s supposed to be?

•would it change your marriage?

•would it change the spiritual state of your spouse?

• would it change you?

Prayer is missing in not just many churches, but in many Christians; and we are called to pray and so that is what we will be doing tonight at Preston FCOG.

We will learn about intercessory prayer; and as a bonus we will be learning about bishops and deacons along the way; and some other subjects as is brought up by many of our people here. That’s one of the reasons why Wednesday evenings are so enjoyable to me; our people are involved and desire to know God.

I pray you’ll make the trip out this evening at 6:30pm

If ever there is a time in our generation, where we needed a move of God to sweep through the churches, it’s now!

One of the singular, most important, life changing, chain breaking, death stomping, devil smacking, hope reviving, revival making event happened almost 2000 years ago.

The King of Glory laid down His life on a tree, allowed men to beat Him; to ridicule Him; to have His skin ripped from His body, and then die. But is that it? Not even close!

Jesus’ death on the cross was not in vain; He triumphed over all the enemies and then took the keys to death, hell, and the grave; and then walked out of a borrowed tomb, and presented Himself alive in the flesh proving He was who He said He was.

Our Lord, Jesus Christ, has been faithful, even in death, and He promised that even though we die, we will live again; but this time without sin.

Please come be with us in the morning. No matter what you’ve done
No matter where you’ve been
Just come. Christ waits to receive you into His arms.

Coffee and fellowship at 10am, service begins at 11am. There is an egg hunt for the kids afterwards! We hope to see you there! God bless you.
