Nutty Buddy Thanksgiving

I remember Thanksgiving past and the huge family gatherings of joyful mess and Nutty Buddy Pudd’n Pie. Oh the bliss, oh the gliss, oh the list of things to prepare for that gathering glory of goodness. When my grandparents moved back from Fenton, Missouri after Grandpa retired from that Chrysler automobile factory my mother would be on the phone with her every evening. Organizing this turkey celebration two months in advance, I will do the cranberry salad she would say, and on and on it would go. The call would happen like a train timetable only this was immediately following Marcia Yockey’s weather report.

The big day arrived and before you would gather the troops around the table one of the boys would surely do something to get in trouble and that mischief seemed to escalate to grandpa taking off the belt just before the blessing. Now that is some blissful mess as you passed the food around the table and spilled the tea on mommas new dress.

My mother always seemed to get the last word and this one happened in the car on the long ride home. She would say something to the affect of ‘Life Sure Get’s Te-Jus, Don’t It’ and then you would hear ‘The sun comes up and the sun goes down, the hands on the clock keep agoin’ round, I just get up and it’s time to lay down, Life gets tee-jus, don’t it, hmm. Man, those were the good ole days,

So the next day I had to go to my cousin and apologize for kicking him in the shin. This was a thoroughly devastating setback of failure, a loss of the championship match. Man, did I have to let go…

Letting Go of Bitterness

Bitterness often takes root quietly, fed by unresolved hurt and unspoken disappointment. Left unchecked, it grows into patterns of anger and division that weigh heavily on our hearts.

“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."
Ephesians 4:31–32

Nutty Buddy Pudd’n Pie can be found on the ‘Little Debbie website as it requires 2 boxed of Little Debbie Nutty Buddy Wafer Bars and 2-8ozs of cream cheese, and you can fill in the rest.

"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."
Lamentations 3:22-23

When our feelings are messy, God’s mercy patiently meets us. The silent places are not empty or shameful—they are where we learn to trust God’s unfailing love.

There is a Quiet Sanctuary within each one of us.
Imagine your heart as a sanctuary, softly lit and inviting. During the day, it gets busy, it gets crowded with tasks and noise. But in the stillness, it opens to His GLORY again. Here, you can gently lay every feeling before God—no sentiment too much, no anxiety unwelcome.

By giving yourself permission to feel and welcoming God into those silent places, you build a foundation of self-trust and faith.

Enjoy the journey!

Dealing with my own Passive Aggression and turning it over to God

The Lord turned my heart to the biblical account recorded in Genesis. And In the biblical account, we see Cain wrestling inwardly after God favors Abel’s offering over his. Outwardly, Cain says little, which would have been my outward actions as well; however, beneath the surface, his disappointment is simmering. The result was tragic: resentment left unattended led to further harm, not just for Cain, but for his relationship with Abel and also with God.

"Then the Lord said to Cain, ‘Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.’"
Genesis 4:6-7

It is a very rainy and windy morning here in Virginia Beach and Tamara didn’t want to go to work and expressed that with a tear of unexpressed words. My wanting to help was to drive her to work so she didn’t have to drive in this bad weather. However, I kissed her and had a prayer with her before she left then the Lord led me to understanding my own heart.

‘Search me (thoroughly), O God, and know my heart; Test me and know my anxious thoughts; And see if there is any wicked or hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.’ Psalms 139:23-24

Take my emotional frustration Lord and help me to balance my thoughts and anger to love and empathy.

Blessings!
