Beverly Ann "Bev" Sillampa (née Poppe), age 94, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026 at Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center in Owen, Wisconsin. Born on July 6, 1931, in Longwood, Wisconsin, she lived a life filled with love, service, and devotion to her family and community.
Bev graduated from Withee High School and embraced a life rooted in hard work and care for others. She was the oldest of 6 siblings. She cherished her role as a farmer's wife for many years but also had worked at the dime store in Owen, and then the local school cafeteria, where her warmth and kindness undoubtedly touched many lives. Her dedication to serving others extended beyond her career; she was a pillar of her community and a source of comfort and joy to all who knew her. A woman of deep faith and sincere love for Jesus, Bev was a devoted member of St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church for an incredible 75 years. Her steadfast commitment to her church reflected her generous spirit and unwavering belief in the importance of community.
Bev found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was a quilter and sewed clothes for her children. These creations were treasured by those fortunate enough to receive them. She loved solving puzzles, playing card games, and cheering on her favorite teams—the Green Bay Packers, the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers. Her home was always open to friends and family, where she made everyone feel important and special through her remarkable gift of hospitality.
Family was at the heart of Bev’s life. She is survived by her sister, Janet Zaborowski; brother, Jack (Patricia) Poppe; sister-in-law, Julia Poppe; seven daughters: Carleen (Dwayne) Moore, Peggy (Allan) Cihlar, Elaine Hebert, Betsy (Brent) Shoup, Kristi (David) Cole, Diane (Lonnie) Kroeplin, Dorothy (Scott) Ralitz, and one son, Chuck (India) Sillampa. Other surviving relatives include 22 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews who brought immense joy to her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Sillampa; parents, Robert and Violet (Henderson) Poppe; brothers: Robert and wife, Helen Poppe, Richard and wife, Evie Poppe, Daniel “Boone” and wife, Marie Poppe; and son-in-law, Keith Miskanis.
Bev’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and selflessness. Her warm smile and generous heart will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May Bev’s memory bring comfort to those who mourn her passing. Special thanks to St. Croix Hospice staff and Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center for their excellent care.
