Holy Scripture (Proverbs 22:6) used to sell guns.

Christian Nationalism at work.

Freedom. We insist it is our right. We cherish it. We fight for it.

But what do we do with it?

“For you were called for freedom, brothers. But do not use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh; rather, serve one another through love. For the whole law is fulfilled in one statement, namely, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” [Galatians 5:13, 14]

Christ, fully free, chose to give His life for us.

How do I- how should I- use our freedom? Do I serve myself, or do I freely choose to serve others?

If I spend my freedom on myself, can I truly say I walk Christ?

This Christmas, why not give ourselves the gift of choosing, once and for all, where we shall kneel.

"Before both" is not an option.

Not to choose is still a choice.

A COMMONGROUND THANKSGIVING

A few years ago, we found people who had no one to gather with for Thanksgiving, invited them to our place, picked them up, sat and ate with them, sang Christmas carols and took them home. We'd like to do that again this year, on Wednesday, November 27, at 2:00 pm.

Because they are mostly alone, these neighbors of ours are hard to find. Will you help us? Do you know someone who has no family or friends to gather with for Thanksgiving, someone who isn't able to get out on their own?

And to give these folks a Thanksgiving family, we need drivers, hosts, setup and cleanup crews. It would just mean a few hours of your time, but it would mean a lot to our guests.

Anything you could do to help us give some of our brothers and sisters a Thanksgiving to remember would be very much appreciated.

Thank you!

We will not be meeting tomorrow. I’m looking at a different kind of format and schedule, will be in touch soon. Wish you all the peace of Christ.

Lots and lots of snow! So We’re canceling the Scripture service for this Sunday - actually not canceling, just postponing.

The Gospel readings tell a story; to skip one would be like skipping a chapter in a book. We’ll pick up the story next week where we left off last week, January 27, 1:00 p.m. Promise not to go too long though. 😇

In the meantime we’ll be sending out some spiritual food for thought taken from this week’s readings. Maybe we can take a little time and talk about them on the 27th?

Stay safe, stay warm.

Hi, I’m Robert Henrich, SCF Pastoral Leader. Thought I should introduce myself:
- 7 years formal ministerial education/formation
- Masters, Pastoral Studies
- Ordained a Catholic Deacon 1990, served 15 years
- Been preaching on scripture for 28 years
- Privileged to serve in ministerial role for events at Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, Congregational, Episcopal, Lutheran, Nazarene and nondenominational churches
- I look to scripture to learn how to live as a Christian in today’s world

I invite you to join me in a weekly meditation on the message of scripture: The never-changing Truth spoken into an ever-changing world.

We’re just getting started, so it’s a little rough around the edges. But the center is clear: the word of God.

May the Christ child be born anew in us this Christmas!
