God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah (Psalms 46:1-3 NKJV)

He who knows not, and knows not that he knows not, is a fool; shun him.
He who knows not, and knows that he knows not, is a child; teach him.
He who knows, and knows not that he knows, is asleep; wake him.
He who knows, and knows that he knows, is wise; listen to him.

Not for yourself, O church, do you exist, any more than Christ existed for himself. Charles Spurgeon

Scenario one:
A man faithfully tithes. He Believes God will meet his needs. His wealth increases and he gives glory to God. Things are good God is good.

Scenario two:
A man faithfully tithes. He believes God will meet his needs. The man gets sick and can't work for a long period of time. His wife gets sick too but they still believe God will provide. They lose their business and their home. They pray and pray and pray but things get worse. Their income has dropped below poverty level and his utilities get shut off. The man searches the scriptures and prays because he wants to be in God's will. He has to make a choice between tithing and getting his utilities back on so he quits tithing for a while. Every month he has to make a choice between tithing and paying his utilities. The man still trusts God. He says to himself, "Maybe God is providing for me in a way that I don't quite understand yet." " Maybe I needed to lose everything in order to know where my loyalties lie." Now he knows he'll follow God no matter what. He goes to his Christian friends from scenario one for comfort. The friend says, “you should be tithing, it's done wonders for me.”

I'll be going to Haiti in 3 weeks to explore what the next steps will be for our ministry, Thorn of Grace. Over the past year, we've been helping one of our contacts get an orphanage up and running. Up to this point, the 42 children have only been getting sporadic meals as they can afford to feed them. Our goal is to get the proper licensing, a new building, a well, and regular monthly donations so they can be cared for on a daily basis. Once these things are in place, they will be able to receive daily food, schooling, school supplies and medical care. Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere. The solutions are very complex and it requires much more than a “hit and run” ministry. That's why Rozon and I are in it for the long haul. Some of these orphans have no parents but many are here because their families can't afford to take care of them. There is 85% unemployment and most live on just 2.00 per day. Many times these families fall victim to traffickers who promise to feed and educate the children but have dyer ulterior motives. Our contact was instrumental in finding one of these operations and it was shut down! Our goal is to keep as many of these children with family members as possible but when that's not possible, we want to care for them according to God's calling. There are 2 things we are in constant need of at Thorn of Grace, prayer and financial support. Please go to our website www.thornofgrace.com for more information and to donate. "Grace is God's goodness, the kindness of God's heart, the good will, the cordial benevolence. It is what God is like. God is like that all the time. You'll always find God gracious, at all times and toward all peoples forever. You'll never run into any meanness in God, never any resentment or rancor or ill will, for there is none there. God has no ill will toward any being. God is a God of utter kindness and cordiality and good will and benevolence." - A.W. Tozer
