I'll be going to Haiti in 3 weeks to explore what the next steps will be for our ministry, Thorn of Grace. Over the past year, we've been helping one of our contacts get an orphanage up and running. Up to this point, the 42 children have only been getting sporadic meals as they can afford to feed them. Our goal is to get the proper licensing, a new building, a well, and regular monthly donations so they can be cared for on a daily basis. Once these things are in place, they will be able to receive daily food, schooling, school supplies and medical care. Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere. The solutions are very complex and it requires much more than a “hit and run” ministry. That's why Rozon and I are in it for the long haul. Some of these orphans have no parents but many are here because their families can't afford to take care of them. There is 85% unemployment and most live on just 2.00 per day. Many times these families fall victim to traffickers who promise to feed and educate the children but have dyer ulterior motives. Our contact was instrumental in finding one of these operations and it was shut down! Our goal is to keep as many of these children with family members as possible but when that's not possible, we want to care for them according to God's calling. There are 2 things we are in constant need of at Thorn of Grace, prayer and financial support. Please go to our website www.thornofgrace.com for more information and to donate.
