Good afternoon,
It has been a while since I have given an update. Two weeks ago, the COGH History team held its monthly Zoom meeting. During that meeting, it was decided to change the structure of the project a little bit. Instead of three volumes of history, each one based on a 25-year timeline, we are going to do three volumes about COGH History, but they will be topical. For instance, the complete history of Home and World Missions from 1949 to 2024 will be in one volume. The complete history of the Youth Movement, possibly combined with the history of Bible Schools and Church Camps, will be in one volume, and so on.
This change will mean two things. One, if someone is interested in the History of World Missions, they can find all of that information in one place. It will be much more user-friendly to the reader.
This change also pushes back the publishing date of the first volume. We had hoped to have Volume I out this summer, but with this change, it will be around this time next year when we estimate it coming out. However, we do still anticipate being completely finished with the project within the next two years. Stay tuned for more updates.
With that said, let me give you a little update on the progress made so far. The Youth Movement, Home Missions, and Holiness Heroes of the Faith have all been completed up to 1974. The complete history of six of our Summer Camp Meetings is finished, with many other camp meeting histories in progress. The histories of several of our Bible Schools have been written, with several other Bible School histories in progress.
Some of these histories have made it through the editing process and are ready to be published, while others are currently being edited. Our team continues to grow as several locals have stepped up and are working on writing and/or researching the history of their school or church camp.
In addition, many pictures, articles, artifacts, and documents have been uncovered that will add so much more to this project. We plan to come up with a way to display an abundance of information uncovered that cannot adequately be covered in three short books.
Thank you to the writers, researchers, and editors who continue to spend untold hours working on this worthy project.
Remember, if you would like to donate financially to help with funding for this project, you can make a donation to the COGH Foundation Board.
