Ottawa City Hall had a few new faces in the council’s seats on Tuesday night as members of the Kiwanis Kids Club took over the roles of city officials during the Ottawa City Council’s regular meeting.

Big congratulations to our Kiwanis Kid Mayor Ella Walker! Fantastic job tonight Ella! You led with curiosity, confidence, and I got a real sense of care for our community.

Huge thanks to the Ottawa Kiwanis for giving students this hands-on look at city government and letting us share the work we do every day. It’s one of those simple, meaningful traditions that reminds us why we serve.

Our young people already carry tomorrow. All we have to do is give them room, point gently, and get out of their way.

It's Peanut Day! Kiwanians and Key Clubbers are stationed at Handy Foods and both Kroger locations today until 5:00 PM! We are selling peanuts and gummy bears to fund our projects, such as our playgrounds, scholarships, support for local nonprofits and so much more!

Did you catch the Kiwanis International float — “Serving in Harmony” — in the 135th Rose Parade? Kiwanis family leaders rode on the float alongside a giant sheepdog made of pampas and buffalo grass, hot pink statice, white rice and black seaweed. The float was awarded the Tournament Volunteer Award for most outstanding floral presentation for a float its size. Thank you to all the members who make the float possible!
