Market will be open tomorrow and it looks like the weather will be beautiful! We have to enjoy these last few days of summer before cooler weather starts to set in. This is a really good time to restocking freezers for the winter. Things like green peppers, tomatoes, onions can be cut up and put into freezer bags to be used at a later dates for things such as soups or stews. You can also shred zucchini and put into freezer bags. Those can be used in a casserole or making zucchini bread at a later date.

Just a reminder, we have a beef meat vendor at the market. Not only do they have various types of beef but they also carry raw dog bones. I usually have to go to a butcher to find those, now I can get them at the market!

This is the expected produce for tomorrow. There could be more than what’s listed but this will give you an idea of what will be there and what’s in season.

Market is open! It’s currently cloudy but not raining! It’s perfect temps to shop the market.

Melons made an appearance this morning. Both watermelon and cantaloupe are at the market. Nothing beats the taste of a locally grown melon. School is starting soon and it’s time to start thinking about healthy after school snacks. We have cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers at the market. These make great snacks that kids love to dip in ranch or hummus.

We also have fresh baked goods, freshly baked artisan breads, farm fresh eggs, fresh cut flowers, freeze dried snacks, honey, maple syrup, jams, soaps, candles, woodworking items, crafts and so much more!

It’s ’National Farmers Week’, what better way to spend it, than stopping down at your local market! 🤠

We have two meat vendors at the market today. ‘The Rusty Wagon’ has fresh pasture raised beef. 🥩 They have several different types of beef, including ox-tails. I know those can be difficult to find sometimes. We also have Kroll Farms joining us. They have all natural chicken. They also have different types of chicken from whole chickens to chicken thighs. 🐓They are also taking orders for pork.

We also have fresh baked goods, freshly baked artisan breads, farm fresh eggs, fresh cut flowers, herbs, freeze dried snacks, jams, maple syrup, honey, soaps, candles, woodworking items, crafts and so much more!

Come out tomorrow and celebrate ‘National Farmers Market Week’ with us. This week was created to highlight how farmers markets play a critical role in stimulating local economy, preserving farmland, increasing sustainability and increasing access to nutritious foods. All great reasons to shop your local farmers market!

We are definitely in the heart of growing season. Last week, we saw the appearances of a variety of squashes, such as: aacorn, buttercup, spaghetti. If you’re unsure of how to prepare items, ask your local farmer. They can offer great tips on how to cook produce. Last year, I learned a new way to cook cabbage and loved it! 😋
