Have you ever wondered how the word "homosexual" got into the Bible when the word wasn't even in the dictionary until 1909? Have you ever felt confused about why some churches are affirming to the LGBTQ community and some aren't? Or had questions about translations of the Bible and how those translations could change the meaning of certain verses?

Join us on June 3rd to watch and discuss together "1946: THE MISTRANSLATION THAT SHIFTED A CULTURE" is a documentary film that investigates the grave consequences of an erroneous biblical translation of the word “homosexual;" chronicling the effect on culture, politics, religion, and the LGBTQIA+ community over the last century.

We'd love for anyone in the community to join us - whether you have questions or doubts, or feel strongly that the church should love and affirm all people or if you just want to understand this topic more clearly.

In June, Becoming Oswego will be practicing "Faith on the Move"! Each Sunday in June, we will be worshiping somewhere other than our normal gathering space. We are putting our words into action - going out into the community and finding ways to serve and build community together.

We can't wait to kick off the month on June 7th by worshiping together at the Aurora Emergency Warming Center. After worship, we'll participate in an unhoused action outreach event from 11a - 3pm. We invite you to join us for worship, beats & eats and building community with our unhoused neighbors.

As we remember and honor those who have sacrificed for all of us this weekend, we invite you to spend time with your families, attend parades or celebrations and Memorial Day ceremonies.
We will NOT have our regular in person worship on Sunday, May 24th but instead offer an online message. We thank ALL those who have served in the armed forces for their service and are especially grateful to all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our FREEDOM!
