Choosing Forgiveness

What a powerful message from Pastor Steve on Sunday.

Forgiveness is rarely easy, but it is always freeing. When we choose forgiveness, we’re not saying what happened was okay, we’re choosing to trust God with justice and refusing to let bitterness take root in our hearts. Through Christ, we have been forgiven much, and He calls us to extend that same grace to others.

What a powerful Sunday at Oswego Assembly of God!

Sunday, July 26, 2026 we were blessed to welcome Carmen Palmer as our guest speaker. Looking through Genesis and especially the account of the plagues in Exodus, she reminded us that God repeatedly proved Himself faithful to His people.

With each plague, God demonstrated His power over the false gods of Egypt and showed that He alone is worthy of our trust. Yet even after witnessing miracle after miracle, the Israelites often struggled to fully depend on Him.

The question that challenged each of us today was:

“You’ve been so faithful… why aren’t we?”

It caused us to examine our own hearts. What idols have we allowed to take God’s place? What do we rely on instead of Him? Is it our finances, our careers, relationships, comfort, control, fear, or even ourselves?

God has already proven His faithfulness over and over again. He has never failed, never abandoned His people, and never broken a promise. The challenge before us is to lay down every idol, remove anything competing for our devotion, and trust the One who has always been faithful.

This past Sunday, July 19, we were blessed to welcome Johna Gatton as our guest speaker. Johna shared a powerful and challenging message titled “Humble Until YOU Crumble.”

Through Scripture and personal insight, she reminded us that true humility isn’t weakness, it’s complete surrender to God. When we choose to lay down our pride, our plans, and our desire for control, God is able to shape our hearts, strengthen our faith, and use us for His glory.

The message encouraged us to examine our own hearts, trust God’s process, and remain humble in every season, knowing that He lifts up those who faithfully submit to Him.

Two weeks ago, on July 12, we were blessed to have Angela Davis Forquer share a powerful message titled “Family,” reminding us that the Church is so much more than a building, it is a family.

She encouraged us with several important truths about what it means to belong to a church family:

❤️ We are called to love one another as Christ loves us.
🤝 We are stronger when we walk through life together.
🙏 A church family prays, encourages, and bears one another’s burdens.
🌱 Spiritual growth happens best in community.
🏠 Everyone has a place and a purpose in the family of God.

In a world where so many people feel disconnected and alone, God’s design is for us to experience genuine fellowship, support, and belonging through His Church.
