Could this four-day week really have been our last week of preschool for the 2025–26 school year? It seems like we just started not that long ago!

We spent a lot of time outdoors enjoying God’s creation. We went on several scavenger hunts looking for shapes, colors, and textures. We also used magnifying lenses to examine things in nature and even painted the sidewalk with water!

We finished reading six Pigeon books by Mo Willems and created our own Pigeon artwork to remember one of our favorite book series. We also enjoyed the classic story Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault and made our own letter trees. As we talked about signs of summer, we created Summer Fun wreaths to celebrate the season ahead.

Friday was a very special day as family members joined us for our end-of-year celebration. First, we shared why we believe that Jesus is our Good Shepherd. We also wore the headbands we made and performed a mini-mini production of Chicken Little. We showed our families how the game “Mr. Fox, What Time Is It?” helped us practice number skills and demonstrated the Magic Milk science experiment.

Throughout the year, we created a page for each letter of the alphabet. We were pleasantly surprised when all of our pages were assembled into a book. We each got an ABC book that we created ourselves. We also received a pictorial memory book filled with photos from our year together.

To conclude our celebration, we were presented with Graduation Medallions and Certificates, recognizing that we are ready to take the next step in our learning journey. Three of our graduates will be attending 4K in Osceola, one will attend 4K in Amery, one will attend 4K in St. Croix Falls, and one will begin kindergarten at Salem Lutheran School in Stillwater.

Congratulations, graduates! You have grown in so many ways this year, and you had a lot of fun while doing it! May God richly bless you as you move forward!

As the school year begins to wind down, we are making the most of every day together!

This week we continued practicing counting and number recognition through 20. We also conducted a fun Magic Milk experiment and enjoyed watching the colorful reactions unfold before our eyes.

Our Bible lessons taught us important truths about God's love and care. From Jonah, we learned that God always forgives us when we turn to Him. From Daniel in the Lions' Den, we learned that God protects His children—sometimes in truly amazing ways!

We also challenged our engineering skills by building towers with a variety of building blocks and seeing how tall and strong we could make them.

Of course, we have been spending as much time as possible outdoors. With the beautiful spring weather, outside has become our favorite place to be these days!

What a blessing it is to learn, play, and grow together each day.

One of our themes this week was birds and nests.

After 21 days, we finally welcomed chicks into the classroom! We had no idea how entertaining they would be to watch. Our favorite moment was when they perched on top of the waterer and looked out at us. Their cheerful peeping could get quite loud at times, too! We have also enjoyed observing a Robin, a Phoebe, and two Bluebirds nesting nearby.

We finished our study of the alphabet with the letter Z, and our ABC book is now complete. In just one more week, we will have studied numbers all the way through 20. During Jesus Time, we reviewed God’s plan of salvation and learned how God helped David defeat Goliath. Like David, we can boldly proclaim, “The Lord is my strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10)

The great outdoors provided many science lessons as well. The Spring Peepers have been calling, we heard a toad singing, and we listened carefully for different bird calls. We are also keeping a close lookout for even more birds’ nests.

There are a lot of fun things to do in May!

This week we celebrated two special occasions —Cinco de Mayo and Mother’s Day—but the highlight of the week was a visit from Ranger Scott of the National Park Service. Through games and hands-on activities, he taught us how to care for God’s creation and protect our environment. We helped clean up “litter” he had scattered around the churchyard and played a game that showed us what can happen to deer when their habitat is destroyed. Ranger Scott also explained why he considers his pickup truck to be his office! To top off the visit, each of us was officially sworn in as a Junior Ranger. Thank you, Ranger Scott, for teaching us!

We also spent time learning about frogs and ponds, writing stories inspired by Harry the Dirty Dog, and preparing the chicken pen for the arrival of the chicks. Our Bible lesson about Philip and the man from a different country reminded us that God can use each of us to share the good news of Jesus with others wherever we go.

We anxiously anticipate other fun things to do in the days to come.

It was a week full of creative activities and hands-on projects centered around our weekly themes.

As we studied pollinators—specifically bees and butterflies—we created bee art using a potato masher as a stamp and made colorful butterflies from coffee filters. Monday’s rain helped us paint umbrella pictures (see the photo), and our Bible lesson about Stephen (Acts 6–7) led to a meaningful craft: decoupaged rocks with the message, “Forgive like Jesus.” Our focus letter was X, and we had a great time exploring sound by making and playing a water glass xylophone.

On Friday, May 1, we learned about the European tradition of May Day, which celebrates the arrival of spring. Long ago, it marked the time when cows were first let out to pasture, and farmers began planting in earnest. We celebrated with a Maypole dance and made May baskets to share with others. In keeping with tradition, we also practiced tossing pennies into a “well,” just as children once received coins in return for their baskets.

We also enjoyed a “Down by the Sea” project led by Miss Carol.

Next week promises even more fun and unique experiences—be sure to check back for our next update!

We had a wonderful week celebrating God’s creation!

On Earth Day, we spent time in a special devotion learning that while God doesn’t need our help to care for His creation, we can show our gratitude for the home He gave us, by reducing, reusing, and recycling. We enjoyed a variety of hands-on activities: sorting recyclables, counting and graphing, conducting a water pollution filter experiment, and painting our own versions of the Earth using balloons. We also picked up sticks in the churchyard.

Excitement is mounting as we anticipate the day the incubating eggs will hatch. On Friday, Miss Carol helped us make a robin nesting shelter, and we’re eager to see if a robin chooses it as a home.

We also focused on the letter W and the number 13, and during Jesus Time we learned about the gift of the Holy Spirit. What a blessing to know that the Holy Spirit works faith in our hearts and keeps us “on fire for Jesus!”

We are so thankful for God’s amazing creation—and for making each of us a part of it, as His Child.

Spring fever has arrived, so we made the most of it with plenty of time outdoors. We discovered mouse holes and mole tunnels, listened for spring peepers and different bird calls, and even watched a female cardinal sing—using her whole body to make such a beautiful sound. We found three bird nests and two squirrel nests, and with so many trees in the churchyard, Hide and Seek was a favorite activity as well.

The highlight of the week, though, was our surprise visitor—The Cat in the Hat! We loved watching him swing and slide before he joined us in the classroom to read. He started by sharing his favorite book, the Bible, then read The Cat in the Hat and Wacky Wednesday by Dr. Seuss. Later, we had fun finding rhyming words like “cat” and “hat,” worked on a Thing 1 and Thing 2 math activity, and made our own Cat in the Hat using paper plates.

We also made a cloud in a jar for science to learn about rain, practiced the letter V, and explored the number 12. In our Bible lesson, “Jesus Goes Back to Heaven,” we learned that Jesus is always with us and that He wants us to share Him with others. We look forward to doing just that when we participate in the worship service this Sunday.

Spring is such a fun time to learn...What will we learn next week???

The joy of our Savior’s resurrection continued to fill our week! We heard how Jesus helped Thomas believe—and how He helps us believe too.

We stayed busy with hands-on learning as we created handprint Easter lilies, counted jellybeans, and explored what happens when eggs are placed in different liquids. (The egg in vinegar was a class favorite—it dissolved the shell, and the egg turned rubbery!) We continue to have fun watching our Grassheads grow their grass hair and seeing the new growth in our Greenhouse Bags. One of our plants escaped the bag!

We also took science outside and enjoyed a texture scavenger hunt and a search for different kinds of buds on the trees and bushes in the churchyard. We also learned about Artemis II, and a special thank you to Miss Carol for helping us celebrate National Farm Animals Day on Friday!

In the classroom, we focused on the letter N, practiced rhyming, worked with the number 11, and practiced matching numbers with their numerals.

The excitement of Easter and the beauty of spring continue all around us.

Maundy Thursday and Good Friday are special days commemorated by Christians, so Grace For Kids was in session Monday through Wednesday only this week as we prepared our hearts for Easter.

During Jesus time, we celebrated the wonderful truth that Jesus rose from the dead on Easter Sunday morning. We shared the promise from John 14:19: “Because I live, you also will live.” Miss Beth and Miss Katie helped us create beautiful empty tomb centerpieces to remind us of the joy of Easter morning.

Our short week was also filled with hands-on learning and springtime fun! We analyzed March weather and concluded that this year, March was quite mild. In our letter study of “M,” we turned an M into a mouse. We also created colorful crayon-resist Easter eggs and practiced early math skills by graphing jellybeans.

We learned about capillary action while watching celery leaves change color when placed in tinted water. We also learned that conditions must be just right for sap to flow in maple trees. Witnessing science in action is such a wonderful way to learn!

A blessed and meaningful Easter to all of our families and friends.

HE IS RISEN! HE IS RISEN INDEED!
