June memory verse
I Peter 2:2
"as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby."

Saw this on another post and thought it might touch some other hearts:

One of the greatest acts of faith a parent will ever learn is how to trust God with their grown children.
Because when they were little, you could protect them from almost everything.
You knew where they were.
You held their hand.
You helped them avoid danger.
But adulthood changes things.
Now there are choices you cannot make for them.
Battles you cannot fight for them.
Pain you cannot shield them from.
And if you are not careful, worry can slowly consume your heart.
You replay conversations.
You wonder if they are okay.
You pray they make wise decisions.
You carry concerns they may never even know about.
But here is the beautiful truth:
God is with your children even when you are not.
The same God who watched over Moses in a river…
Daniel in a lion’s den…
and Joseph in a foreign land…
is still watching over your family today.
Nothing about your child’s life escapes His notice.
Not their fears.
Not their struggles.
Not the nights they feel overwhelmed and do not tell anyone.
God sees it all.
And sometimes the hardest thing for a parent is accepting this:
You cannot control every outcome.
But you can pray.
And prayer is never powerless.
Some parents think prayer is the least they can do.
In reality, it is one of the greatest things they can do.
Because prayer invites God into places human strength cannot reach.
Into troubled minds.
Into broken relationships.
Into dangerous situations.
Into wandering hearts.
Never underestimate what God can do through a praying parent.
Your prayers still cover your children.
Still protect them.
Still follow them even into seasons where they seem distant from God.
And maybe this is what someone needs to hear today:
Do not carry tomorrow’s fears alone.
Place your children into the hands of the One who loves them perfectly.
God is still guiding.
Still protecting.
Still pursuing.
Still working behind the scenes even when you cannot see it yet.
And while you are praying for your children…
God is also holding your heart together too.

Schedule for Memorial Day

Pentecost Sunday, May 24th

Pentecost is celebrated fifty days after Easter Sunday, which places it on the seventh Sunday following Easter. Since Easter is determined by the lunar calendar as the first Sunday after the first full moon following the spring equinox, the date of Pentecost changes each year, moving along with Easter. In 2026, Easter Sunday fell on March 29, making Pentecost Sunday May 24.

*** The next GVIS community prayer meeting will be Sunday, June 7th at 6 pm. ***

Several area churches are participating, and everyone is welcome to join with us. We will be praying for the unity of the area churches (we all worship the same God and Savior) along with the needs of our community along with the needs of our country and the world in general.
These will be held the 1st Sunday of each month with the area pastors taking turns coordinating the service. With various churches participating, to make it easier to remember which church is hosting, the prayer services will be held at the Orwell North Presbyterian Church for the year 2026.

(GVIS is Grand Valley Interfaith Services, a group of area churches working together for the betterment of our communities.)
