Meet Grace!
Grace is the leader of our youth ministry and also volunteers in the café and on the admin team. When asked about her experience serving at Refinery she wrote, “I started in cafe about a year ago, and started leading the youth group a few months after that. More recently I’ve also been helping in Refinery’s administrative work as well. My favorite part about serving at Refinery has been the Christ centered nature of it all. No matter who I’m working with or what we’re doing, I always know that the end goal is never to get a certain number of people through the door. No matter what ministry, we all focus on helping each person we can to grow closer in their relationship with God and in their knowledge of Biblical truth. I have been surprised by how much I’ve begun to look forward to serving as a whole. What used to feel like a chore, God has changed my mindset on. I realize that I get to serve, and that it is the biggest blessing to have that opportunity. Serving in youth ministries has greatly impacted my faith. As I found myself looking to prepare lessons, I was humbled and reminded not to trust in my own knowledge but to pray for guidance at every turn. It’s given me a serious reliance on God through the process of trying something I’d never done before, and a knowledge that I can trust Him through all of my failure’s and successes. I believe that our youth ministry moves our mission forward by training our teens to know what the Bible says and how to live that out. I hope that each Bible study we have, and even our time for fun and games, will have a lasting effect on our teens so that they will want to live like Christ and grow His kingdom.”
