Serving Spotlight: Meet Jacob!
When asked about his experience serving at Refinery he wrote, “I have been serving in various capacities at Refinery since 2022 when we were preparing the building to be used for gatherings. I’m happy to say that I’ve since found my place in aiding the worship service through the tech ministry, helping the youth to connect with God’s word through the youth ministry, and helping behind the scenes as a member of the board. Participating in serving has made me feel like I belong here. I don’t feel like I’m just a consumer, I get to take ownership and give something back to my church family as well. It has been thrilling to see how the teens interact with and learn God’s word. I am always encouraged to hear their insights. God has taught me that He’s where the joy is!
Serving at Refinery has given me an opportunity to take root and grow in my faith. It’s helped me take ownership of my responsibility not only to serve others but also to prepare my heart on a personal level. If I want to hold others accountable to living Christ-like, I had better remove the plank from my own eye first. Losing in the youth group games has also helped keep me humble! I believe my ministry helps people take steps toward living like Christ and growing His kingdom by facilitating smooth worship services, stewarding the resources we have been given to best serve the church, and giving the youth a foundation of truth about who God is. The biggest catalyst for a productive Christian life is learning the true heart of God toward His people.”
