This Sunday is Graduation Sunday in our Youth group! Come pray over our graduates with us. Our Kindergartners are headed to 1st grade and 8th graders are headed into high school. Both groups will work at finding their way in a whole new school dynamic. Let's pray that they are leaders and shine Jesus into their friend groups and into their classrooms.
We have 4 high school seniors and we pray that as they go out into the world to college and the workforce, that they will make good decisions based on God's Word and that they will continue to shine for Jesus and grow in their faith.
And we have a college graduate who is starting her new career and we pray that she will shine Jesus into her new 4th grade classroom and continue to grow in her faith.
Thank you for being such a praying church family. See you on Sunday!

Take a moment and study the Bible with our youth: You can read about David and the Ark (2 Samuel 5-6)
Our take away: God is worthy of worship.
God gave King David great victories. He decided to bring back the ark of the covenant. He and the people had a great celebration, worshiping God along the way. David’s wife, Michal, saw David dancing and worshiping, and she was angry. She ridiculed him for being an embarrassment, but David responded that he was willing to look even more foolish for God. Worshiping Him was more important than what people thought.
In the Old Testament, the ark of the covenant was a symbol of God’s presence with His people. When Jesus came to Earth, He was Emmanuel—God with us. John 1:14 says: And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. God loved us so much that He became man and physically present. Because Jesus is fully man and fully God, only He could die on the cross for our sins and make a way for us to be forgiven so we can be in God’s presence forever.
Read Matthew 15:8-9. This makes it clear that worship is, first and foremost, about the heart. The religious leaders in the book of Matthew, did and said things that looked and sounded like worship, but they didn’t truly love God from the heart. Their actions and words didn’t please God because they weren’t motivated by love.
This is why Jesus called them “whitewashed tombs”. They looked good on the outside but were dead on the inside.
If we want to worship in a way that pleases the Lord, we need to start with our hearts. If we don’t love God from the heart, then nothing else matters.

Our older youth are studying how God is our King this month on Wednesday nights. Many of you are interested in what they are learning and some of our parents want to use what the kids are learning in their family devotion time. So this year, we will post the highlights of what the class is learning and some ideas of how to discuss and study this further at home.

This Month’s Biblical Theme Is: God is King
God is King, reigning with absolute authority, justice and love over all creation. As the sovereign Ruler, His power is unmatched, and His wisdom guides the universe with perfect order and purpose. Unlike the earthly king the Israelites cried out for, God’s reign is eternal and unchanging, filled with mercy and grace for His people. He governs with a heart of compassion, inviting all to find refuge under His divine protection and provision. As King, He calls His followers to honor Him with reverence and obedience, promising an everlasting kingdom of peace and joy for those who trust in Him.

Read about Israel’s First King (1 Samuel 8:1–9; 13:1–14, 15:10–29)

This week's take away: God is the one true King.
King Saul was chosen to lead the Israelites. When Saul led the Israelites into battle against the Philistines, he became frightened and disobeyed God. King Saul viewed himself as the ultimate authority in Israel, and this upset God. Samuel, one of God’s judges, tried to help Saul and the Israelites, but Saul still didn’t listen. Because he disobeyed God and forgot that God is the one true King, Saul had to face consequences and his time as king came to an end.
Much like Israel did what was right in their own eyes and demanded a king to rule over them, their own king did things his own way instead of God’s way. God is the One true King because He always does what is good and right. We all try to do things our own way—we all sin. We let other things rule over us instead of God. We can’t fix our sin problem on our own. Jesus died on the cross and rose again, making a way for us to be forgiven from sin. He is the one true King forever!

Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory! (Psalm 24:10)
