There is something within us all that at times suspects our own sins aren't quite as bad or as problematic as someone else's. We compare against each other, finding false hope in self-serving bias. In doing so, we show a reluctance to consistently see our deeds before the backdrop of God's pure light and holiness.
God's righteousness renders ours as filthy rags, so we fear judgement according to His standard; but in this, we're in error. To rightly evaluate our works in the light of God's holiness is to soon find hope, for He is merciful and gracious to all who confess that their deeds all fall short of His glory.
Join us this Sunday as we meditate on Romans 2:6-11 and find that God's standard is indeed holiness; all--Jew and Gentile alike--fall short of it; and why there is yet great news for all.
