🇺🇸 America is not the oldest republic ever, but it is the longest-surviving modern constitutional republic under a single written national constitution. 🇺🇸
That is no small thing.
What has allowed it to survive this long?
Not perfection.
Not sinlessness.
Not political wisdom alone.
Our nation has survived by the mercy of God, through the restraint of constitutional government, the rule of law, ordered liberty, moral responsibility, and the influence of biblical truth upon the conscience of the people.
And we must teach the coming generations the truth about why this republic has endured.
One of the great blessings in our history has been the free and indiscriminate preaching of the biblical gospel — the message that Christ saves sinners, transforms lives, forms conscience, restrains evil, strengthens families, and calls people to live under the authority of God.
A republic cannot live on paper alone. Laws matter. Institutions matter. But character matters too.
Self-government only works when people are willing to govern themselves under truth, conscience, and accountability before God.
As we mark 250 years from 1776 to 2026, we should not worship the nation, but we should give thanks.
We should remember. We should pray.
