UNUSUAL EVENTS
Rev. Jack Arnold, at 69, was giving the Sunday morning sermon at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Oviedo, Florida. He quoted the thoughts of John Wesley, the 18th-century revivalist, that we are “immortal” until our work on earth is done; but as soon as we’ve finished our earthly work, the Lord will take us home. Arnold then said, “And when I go to Heaven…” He grabbed the podium and slumped to the floor. Members rushed to his side, but he died instantly from an apparent heart attack in the middle of his sermon on Heaven.
We don’t know how to explain the phenomenon of preachers who die while preaching about Heaven, but it happens periodically.
A dramatic scene occurred in 1967 at Wheaton College in Chicago when Dr. V. Edman, a revered Christian educator and devotional writer, came to preach in the auditorium named after him—Edman Chapel. His subject was “The Presence of the King.” He began by telling of an invitation he once received to visit Haile Selassie I, the king of Ethiopia. He described the preparations that preceded his visit and how honored he was to see the king. Then Edman shifted gears and said:
“But I speak primarily of another King. This chapel is the house of the King. Chapel is designed to be a meeting with the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords Himself. Chapel is to be a time of worship, not a lecture, not an entertainment, but a time of meeting the King.’’ He continued speaking and suddenly collapsed in the pulpit and went instantly into the presence of the very King of whom he was speaking. Imagine what an honor to move from this earth to a Heavenly worship without skipping a beat!

**Living without faith is like driving in a fog.
**The best thing to save for old age is yourself.
**Nobody has a right to criticize the government unless he voted in the last election.
**Be content with what you have, but never with what you are.
**The straight and narrow path is the only one that has no traffic problems.
**The secret of polite conversation is never to open your mouth unless you have something to say.
**Those who live with too much tension seldom live to enjoy a pension.
**Good ole field corn—about the only thing left that can be shocked.
**Nothing makes people go into debt like trying to keep up with people who already are.

GOOD MORNING WEST OAKS FAMILY
WILL IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
We don’t know our beginnings without Genesis, and we can’t understand the future without Revelation. We learn how to worship in Psalms and how to live honestly in a dishonest world in Proverbs. Job shows us how God will bear us through suffering, and Ephesians helps us calculate our current and future blessings. Ruth shows us how to fall in love, Song of Solomon tells us how to love our spouse, and I John teaches us that we shouldn’t love the world or the things in it. Esther tells us God rules over the world even when He seems absent. Jonah reminds us we shouldn’t run away from Him, and James tells us to draw near to God.
In Matthew, Mark, Luke and John we meet the greatest person in history, and we learn He is living still and loving us despite our mistakes and missteps. In fact, as we become better acquainted with our Bibles, we seem to find Jesus loving us afresh on every page. Because the Bible is the Word of God, it is “living and powerful” and able to impact us at the deepest levels. God’s Word stands in judgment over our most secret “thoughts and intents.” God’s Word always accomplishes the purpose for which God sends it. For example, Psalm 107:20 says, “God sent His Word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” God speaks with purpose, and His purpose is always accomplished.
Please remember to pray for Jackie & her brother Mark, the Minger family, Jewel Allen; Brian Scott, Pastor Tommy and Teresa, President Trump and Congress, our soldiers, our West Oaks graduates and the Peace of Jerusalem.

DID YOU KNOW
--Tomorrow we enter the new month of June.
--June 21st is Father’s Day.
--Christian music’s major national tour, Winter Jam 2026, is traveling through Florida this year featuring artists including Chris Tomlin, Matthew West, Katy Nichole, and speaker Zane Black.
-- Our West Oaks Academy is a faith-based educational alternative serving the West Oaks community and enrolls between roughly 370–425 students every year. We had 38 graduates this year.
--Did you know that Brandon Lake is probably the most popular contemporary Christian artist currently, with crossover success and chart-topping worship songs. Lauren Daigle is one of the most mainstream Christian singers in America, known even outside church circles. CeCe Winans is often considered the queen of modern gospel music and enormously respected across generations.
--Some of our basketball young men graduated and a couple will return in the fall. Keep them in your prayers.

BITS AND PIECES
--Always stand for the right; then you win if you lose.
--The hardest ones to convince they are of retirement age are children at bedtime.
--Sometimes it actually seems that anybody who can make money enough to go to college doesn’t need an education.
--It is easier to acquire a good reputation than to lose a bad one.
--It’s not only a man’s sins that find him out—his creditors do too.
_The principal objection to old age is that there’s no future in it.
--The promises of God are certain, but do not always mature in 90 days.
--Crime may not pay but it sure costs.
--The man who does as he pleases is seldom pleased with what he does.

GOOD MORNING WEST OAKS FAMILY
TODAY IS PENTECOST SUNDAY

Nearly 2,000 years ago, 120 followers of Jesus obeyed His command not to depart from Jerusalem but to wait for the Father’s promise, which “you have heard from Me” to be “baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now” (Acts 1:4-5).
For more than a week, the 120 believers (including Jesus’ mother) gathered in an upper room, praying and waiting for the promised outpouring. Then it happened! Acts 2:1-4 records that momentous occasion:
“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from Heaven, as of a rushing, mighty wind and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
Simon Peter made it plain that the outpouring of the Spirit was more than just a one-time phenomenon when he said, “The promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call”. Empowered by the Spirit, the Church has gone forth into the world and won multiplied millions to Jesus Christ.

BITS AND PIECES
** Patriotism consists not only in waving the flag, but in striving that our country shall be righteous as well as strong
** Did you know that at military funerals, the 21-gun salute stands for the sum of the numbers in the year 1776?
** In the truest sense, freedom cannot be bestowed, it must be achieved.
** The United States is the only country with a known birthday.
** True patriotism hates injustice in its own land more than anywhere else.
** America is a tune. It must be sung together.
** “I like to see a man proud of the place in which he lives. I like to see a man live so that his place will be proud of him”.

Jackie sent me the following text requesting prayer for her "brother having his first cancer treatment for kidney cancer. Asking for them to please keep Mark in their prayers. This treatment will wipe out his entire immune system from today throughout his four treatments. This will be very difficult for Mark. He cannot even see his children and grandchildren."
