I grew up singing these words:
“As the deer panteth for the water,
So my soul longeth after Thee.”
But as a child, did I really know what I was singing? Was it really coming from my heart? After all, who in the 80’s even spoke like that? With all the th’s at the end of verbs and with there’s and thou’s?
If I’m going to be honest, the answer to the first 2 questions is sadly… no.
But the song came to mind again this morning when my mother excitedly shared a picture that she took from her living room window…
And I… well, I was not only excited to have received it, but super blessed to have received it as a Love Letter from God ✝️💕🕊️
The Lord used it to bring me Healing in many ways, as I sat with Him and read His Word…
I finally got a deeper understanding of that age old hymn…
When we come to know Jesus
As The Lover of our souls,
We will truly long for Him and His Presence
With a thirst so intense
That won’t be quenched until we sit at His Feet and let Him pour into us
Like a tall glass of ice water
on a hot, Summer’s day.
For, Jesus is truly
The Only Source of Living Water,
That, by which,
one would never thirst again
should they take a drink
from His Neverending Well… ✝️💦✨
“As a deer longs for
streams of water,
so I long for You, God.
I thirst for God, the living God.
When can I come and appear before God?”
Psalms 42:1-2 ✨✝️✨
And the answer to:
“When can I come and appear before God?” is simply…
Anytime.
“How?,” you might be asking.
Simply again…
With sincerity in your heart,
ask Jesus to come into your life and be Lord over it ✨
Ask Him if He would sit beside you today
and pour into you,
like a glass of water on a hot Summer’s day…
A tall glass of Living Water, that is! 🥹✝️💦
“…Jesus stood and cried out, saying,
“If anyone is thirsty,
let him come to Me and drink.
He who believes in Me,
as the Scripture said,
‘From his innermost being
will flow rivers of living water.’”
John 7:37-38 ✨✝️✨
