Pat entered formation for the Diaconate in 2004 under Bishop Norbert Dorsey of the Diocese of Orlando. His deacon mentor, Dc. Charles Mallon, had asked him to contemplate becoming a deacon for many years and convinced him to try one year of formation. . . see what you think! Five years later Dc. Pat was ordained by Bishop Thomas Wenski on June 13, 2009. He was assigned to his home parish of Holy F

amily Catholic Church upon his ordination and served there until April 2016. In April 2016, Dc. Pat was assigned to St. James Cathedral in Orlando. In August 2021, while still assigned to St. James Cathedral Parish, he assumed the position of the Director of Operations at St Paul’s parish & school in Leesburg, FL. He is active in Hospital Ministry, Baptism Preparation, Marriage Preparation, RCIA, Sacramental Preparation, the Knights of Columbus (a 4th Degree member), Ancient Order of Hibernians (current divisional chaplain), and Religious Education.

My first day at Villanova University was yesterday. Started off with Mass in the old seminary chapel, getting a tour of the campus, and even met a friend (a coyote) who wanted to follow me into a building until I scared him away. . . Oh and class in the afternoon and a very nice dinner with the cohort. Day one complete.

Asking for prayers for three people I care about very much. Two suffering from cancer and one attacked by a cat. All are living with their effects and starting to heal.

Looks like I may be busy for the next two years. . . Heading to grad school next month at Villanova.

Yesterday we held a retreat for the Elect in our OCIA program at the Cathedral. It was a day filled with remembering of the experience of their journeys, looking to the liturgy of the Easter Vigil, and the mission of their future as disciples. Many laughs, some tears of joy, and all within a community that can’t wait for them to become full members of the Body of Christ.

Spent the past weekend at St Vincent de Paul parish presenting with the pastor, Fr. Kenny, our Capital Campaign for the first building at our Outreach Campus and the expansion of the Church and kitchen along with a new narthex rotunda to connect our two main buildings.

I have not seen church attendance like I did this weekend - it was as if it was Christmas or Easter! What a vibrant parish that I am lucky enough to be a part of the staff.

But, I’ll be back at the cathedral this weekend!!

A beautiful choral concert tonight at St James Cathedral with Billy Joel Martinez conducting. This was Billy’s “thesis” for his masters degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. Congratulations Billy on a job well done. The sounds echoed beauty throughout God’s house!

Bittersweet day yesterday as I spent my last day as director of operations at St. Paul Catholic Church and School in Leesburg. It has been an awesome four and a half years with a great group of staff, parishioners, and students. As I continue at St. Vincent de Paul in Wildwood/The Villages in the same capacity, I look forward to the future but always mindful of the past. Thank you St Paul’s!
