Here’s a look back at the Ladies’ Night Out this past Friday, hosted by ministry! These events give women space to slow down, connect, and grow together. They’re a sweet picture of what it means to live life in community here at NewCity.

The faith we hold is never meant to end with us. Throughout Scripture, God reveals Himself as the God of generations—“to your children and your children’s children.”

Discipleship is not just for the present moment; it’s an investment in eternity. As we gather in worship, open the Word, and live out the gospel in community, we are participating in the slow, beautiful work of forming hearts that will know and love God long after we’re gone.

This is the heartbeat of NewCity: that we would call, form, and send disciple-makers, no matter how small.

This past Sunday at our congregational meeting, there was a unanimous(!!) vote to have Ben Kandt as our next Senior Pastor! (Swipe to see the video of that joyous moment). We’re incredibly grateful for his faithful leadership and excited for this next chapter in the life of our church.

Join us for his installation service this Sunday, May 25, at WholeLife Church from 4:30–6:00 PM as we officially commission and celebrate this new season together. 🙌

At NewCity, our mission is to call, form, and send disciple-makers. It’s not just something we do—it’s who we are. Whether we’re gathered on Sundays or scattered weekly throughout our city, this mission shapes how we live, lead, and love in all of life.

“A Disciple-Making Culture is where the beliefs, habits, and narrative of a church are constantly repeated with congruence and intentionality, which makes it clear to almost everyone, all the time, including newcomers, that disciple-making is what everyone does in this church.” — (cf. National Study on Disciple-Making in USA Churches)

Following our service on Sunday, we had a wonderful afternoon celebrating the Schitter family as a church, honoring them for their faithful service and love for our community. What a gift it was to gather in this way. We look forward to seeing how God will continue to use the Schitter family to bless others and build His kingdom. Scroll to see some highlights from that afternoon 👉

This past week as a church family, we moved from the quiet contemplation of the Tenebrae service on Thursday to the joy-filled celebration of resurrection on Easter Sunday.

During our Easter gathering, Associate Pastor Benjamin Kandt led us through the story of Thomas, the disciple who famously doubted the resurrection. Rather than condemning his skepticism, Jesus met Thomas exactly where he was—inviting him to touch his wounds and believe. This moment reveals a God who enters locked rooms of fear and doubt, offering grace, not shame.

This is the kind of Savior we follow, and the kind of disciple-makers we long to be: those formed by grace, grounded in truth, and sent to meet others where they are.

Join us this Holy Week as we reflect on the depth of Christ’s sacrifice and celebrate the hope of His resurrection.

Tenebrae: A Service of Shadows
Thursday, 6:30–7:30 PM
Tenebrae is Latin for “shadows” or “darkness." This unique worship service provides us an opportunity to meditate on and enter into the Passion of Jesus, His suffering, and ultimately, His death. Reflecting on the suffering of our Savior prepares us for the even greater celebration of His resurrection and life on Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday Services
9:00 AM & 11:15 AM
Come rejoice in the risen Savior with us as we proclaim the good news of resurrection and life. All are welcome!

"Deny yourself and imitate Jesus. That's where life is found. That's the promise. That's why we imitate, because life is found there, peace is found there. So we're to rejoice always and we're to pray always. We're to grab hold of these things, Paul says, through thinking and practicing after our brothers and sisters and after Christ. When we do that, we will find life."

"The Bible is the first hyperlinked text where parts of it refer back and forth to each other, which is pretty incredible, considering this is a book that was written over the course of over a thousand plus years by different authors in different places, and yet...it's one coherent story that takes us from Genesis to Revelation."

"If you were to ask hey, Jesus, tell me like what are your core spiritual disciplines? He wouldn't say Bible reading. He wouldn't say gathered worship. I don't think he wouldn't say Sabbath, or journaling, or Instagramming Psalm 23 in the background of your Starbucks latte. He wouldn't say those things, as good as those things might be. He would say bless, pray and fast."

Pastor of Formation & Mission Benjamin Kandt explains more why that's the case in his sermon from Sunday:

Pastor of Formation & Mission Benjamin Kandt continues our series on Unforced Rhythms of Grace, preaching from Matthew 6:1-18 about the importance of the practices of blessing, prayer, and fasting.
