Have you ever felt like you settled for second best, or wondered if you made the right choice? This week's message reminds us that when we fix our eyes on Jesus, the guessing stops and the peace begins.

John the Baptist stood before a crowd and declared, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world" (John 1:29). Not covered. Not managed. Taken away. That is the starting point for everything.

When we slow down, gaze at Jesus, and stop letting our mistakes define us, we discover that God is already pleased with us, just as He declared over Jesus at His baptism before He had done a single miracle (Matthew 3:17). The key is not doing more. It is beholding more.

When was the last time you truly soaked in God's Word instead of just rushing through it? This week's message from John 1:19-28 reminded us that John the Baptist's call to repentance was not just for the crowds at the Jordan River — it is for all of us, even those who think they are already clean.

Just like the religious leaders who assumed they had no need for washing, we can fall into the trap of sprinkling Scripture over our lives instead of sitting in it. Repentance is not a one-time event. It is the daily preparation that opens our hearts to what God wants to do in us.

What is God trying to show you that you are missing? Come ready to reflect, repent, and rest in Him.

What if the answer to every moment of second-guessing, every feeling of inadequacy, started with simply stopping and looking?

John 1:29 records one of the most powerful declarations in Scripture -- "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world." Not covers it. Not cleans it up. Takes it away. That changes everything about how we see ourselves, our choices, and our God.

This week we explored what it means to behold Jesus as our best starting point -- not a second-best option, but the only one who restores what was broken and brings lasting peace. As 2 Corinthians 3 reminds us, we are transformed into his image as we gaze upon his glory with unveiled faces.

Slow down. Gaze longer. You are already pleasing to God -- not because of what you do, but because of whose you are.
