On Sunday, May 31, the Cathedral gathered with family and friends from across the Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida and the wider community to give thanks for the ministry of Dean Reggie Kidd as he marked his final Sunday as Dean of the Cathedral.

The day was filled with gratitude, worship, memories, and prayer as we celebrated Dean Kidd’s years of faithful leadership, preaching, teaching, and pastoral care. During the service, representatives from the Diocese, the City of Orlando, and Orange County offered resolutions recognizing his many contributions to both Church and community.

Following worship, the celebration continued with a luncheon at The Rosalind Club where parishioners, clergy, colleagues, family, and friends gathered.

As we enter a new chapter in the life of the Cathedral, we give thanks to God for Dean Kidd’s ministry among us and pray for every blessing in his retirement.

Scroll through for highlights from a beautiful and memorable day.

Church-wide Name Tags!

Help make our Cathedral an even more welcoming place by ordering a name tag. Name tags make it easier to learn one another’s names, welcome guests, and help our future Dean get to know the congregation. Name tags are $7 each and can be ordered through the Church Center app. The first batch of orders will be submitted after the June 21 deadline. Please note that name tags will not be stored at the Cathedral; each person is responsible for keeping track of their own.

Our Honduras Mission Team just wrote to ask for specific prayers as they partner with Buen Pastor for a World Cup outreach event tomorrow afternoon! ⚽🙏

Pray for:
• Many people from the community to come.
• The technology setup to work as expected.
• Rev. Amilcar as he shares the Gospel.
• Meaningful relationships to be formed and that this event will open doors for future connections between the church and the community.

May God use this gathering to draw people closer to Christ and to one another!

Comment with an “amen!” if you’re joining us in prayer.

Ten years after the tragedy at Pulse Nightclub, we gathered this afternoon for a Requiem Eucharist to remember, to pray, and to proclaim the hope of the Resurrection.

We were honored to welcome Cathedral members, neighbors, diocesan staff, public servants and community leaders, first responders, and guests from across Central Florida as we joined our hearts in prayer for the 49 victims and their loved ones, for survivors, for those who responded that night, and for all who continue to live in fear of violence and hatred.

In his sermon, The Rev. Canon Dr. Dan E. Smith reminded us that the Gospel calls us not only to love, but to stand between hatred and those it seeks to harm. Canon Dan wore a stole bearing the names of the 49 victims, a gift from the mother of one of those lost. The Cathedral was honored to host her child’s funeral ten years ago.

Together we prayed:
“Comfort us in our sorrows at the death of our brothers and sisters; let our faith be our consolation, and eternal life our hope.”

The full service is available on our YouTube channel.

One of the Honduras Mission Team’s biggest goals this week is complete! 🎉

After days of hard work, the team has finished repainting and refreshing the Great Hall at Buen Pastor. With this facelift, the space is now ready to be offered as a rental venue for the surrounding community, creating a new source of income to support the church’s ministry.

While this major project is behind them, the week continues with local outreach opportunities, fellowship, worship, and a chance to experience the beauty and culture of Honduras alongside our companions in Christ.

The team members who joined for the shorter weekend option have safely made it back to Orlando, thanks be to God!
