🌪️ Hurricane Season Starts Today

For those of us who live and serve along the coast, preparation isn't fear—it's stewardship.

As we enter another hurricane season, AVGO encourages families, churches, businesses, and communities to take time now to review emergency plans, check supplies, and prepare to help one another when challenges arise.

Storms may test our structures, but they also reveal our character.

Throughout hurricane season, AVGO stands ready to support communities through preparedness, response, and recovery efforts wherever opportunities arise. Whether serving neighbors close to home or responding to communities in need, our mission remains the same: bringing hope, practical support, and the love of Christ into difficult moments.

As you prepare your homes and families, remember to check on those who may need extra help—the elderly, those living alone, and families facing hardship.

This morning, we had the privilege of joining one of our incredible partner churches, Community Church of Waterford (CCW), to share the heart behind Anchor & Vine Global Outreach (AVGO)—who we are, what we do, and why we do it.

We're especially excited for this week's Vacation Bible School, where students won't just learn biblical lessons—they'll have the opportunity to put them into action.

Throughout the week, children will help assemble:

💧 Clean Water Filter Kits for families in Malawi
🩺 First Aid Kits for communities in Peru
🦷 Dental Hygiene Kits for children in Peru
🌎 Additional resources supporting AVGO's global partners

One of our core beliefs is simple:

Our youth are not the future Church. They are the Church right now.

This week, students will see firsthand that following Jesus means more than hearing the Gospel—it means living it. They can make a difference, serve others, and be part of God's work around the world today—not someday.

Thank you to CCW for welcoming us and partnering with us to help raise up a generation of young people who know they are loved by God and called to share that love with others.

Today, we remember those who stepped forward when it mattered most.

The men and women who carried duty heavier than comfort.
Who answered the call to serve something greater than themselves.
Who gave their lives in defense of others, many whose names they would never know.

At AVGO, we believe remembrance matters.

Not only because freedom has a cost, but because sacrifice should never become ordinary.

We honor the fallen.
We honor the families who continue carrying that weight.
And we honor the legacy of courage, service, and love for others that continues to shape this nation.

As we gather with family, travel, rest, and celebrate this weekend, may we do so with gratitude and humility.

🍃The Sacrificial Leaf🍃

Mangrove trees are a big part of the Florida Keys ecosystem. You’ll often see a yellow leaf among the beautiful green leaves. Some say the yellow leaves absorb the excess salt from the water and then falls off allowing the rest of the leaves and tree to live. The sacrificial leaf.

What a beautiful picture of God’s grace: Jesus taking on the sins of the world and dying for us. We love exploring God’s beautiful creation!

Interested in missions but have some questions? Let’s break down some myths about missions:

Myth #1: Missions can only happen overseas.

False! Sharing the love of Jesus can happen in your own backyard. You don’t have to go far to tell someone about Jesus.

Myth #2: Only trained pastors and ministry leaders can go on mission trips.

False! Anyone who wants to serve others and serve God can be a part of missions. There are no specific requirements or certifications to be on mission.

Myth #3: Short-term trips don’t make a difference.

False! Incredible ministry relationships can start from just one short-term trip. The goal of a short term mission trip is to support the local church and community in what they are currently doing. The work continues even after a team leaves, but we can continue to support them and pray for them even from a far. The Lord can do mighty work during a short-term trip!

We are excited to share that we will be at Community Church of Waterford’s Vacation Bible School next month! There we get to teach the kids all about many of our different outpost locations. The kids are also helping us to fundraise for projects in Malawi! We’re looking forward to a week of seeing kids learn about Jesus and missions around the world! 🌍

🇵🇷Puerto Rico was our first established outpost location so it will always have a special place in our hearts.

Food distribution, power packs, local church partnerships, and environmental impact programming is what makes this trip so special. And of course experiencing the beautiful culture of Puerto Rico is a plus too!

A crisis can happen anywhere—and it rarely gives a warning.

At Anchor & Vine Global Outreach (AVGO), we spend a lot of time thinking about the first minutes of a crisis. Resources are limited, communication may fail, and people have to rely on what they already know and already have.

3 Simple Crisis Readiness Habits That Work Anywhere:

1️⃣ Keep a Small Ready Bag
A little water, a light source, basic first aid, and a way to power or protect communication devices if you have them. Simple tools can make the first moments more manageable.

2️⃣ Always Notice Your Exits
Whether you're in a church, school, hotel, market, or office—take a moment to see how you would get out if needed. This applies in every country and every setting.

3️⃣ Have a Simple Communication Plan
Know where to meet or who to contact if communication breaks down. This works whether you use smartphones or word-of-mouth.

Crisis readiness isn’t about fear—it’s about stability. Prepared individuals help steady families.
Steady families help stabilize communities.

What does the Bible say about service?

A lot! Jesus tells us multiple times to serve others as He has served us. We see so many examples of Jesus washing feet, healing the sick, and loving those that aren’t loved. That’s why we go, that’s why we serve. We strive to bring Jesus to others and that starts with serving them like Jesus did. Won’t you join us?
