Dear Friends for Life,

I want to shout out a great big THANK YOU to those of you who filled out our Day #1 schedule. We had every hour covered today, 7am until 7pm! That's the way we like to start! God bless each and every one of you.

I know that everyone will do their very best to facilitate an unbroken prayer vigil throughout the remaining 39 days as well. I am going to do my best to help you keep an eye on where the UN-filled prayer hours are via email every couple of days or so to help you plan the most effective time(s) to schedule yourself to go out to our vigil site to pray. (You can also check the calendar yourself by going to our website anytime - 40DaysForLife.com/Altamonte-Springs.) By the way, I won't always be sending these emails so late at night. This is an unusual week for me so I apologize for not getting this to you much earlier today.

Here are the un-filled prayer hours for the next couple of days:

Thursday, February 18th:

7am - 8am
8am - 9am
12pm - 1pm
6pm - 7pm
Friday, February 19th:

7am - 8am
8am - 9am
9am - 10am
1pm - 2pm
2pm - 3pm
Please check your personal calendar to see where you might be able to fit in an hour or more to get out into the fresh air to pray for our tiny brothers and sisters in Christ, their moms and dads, the abortion staff and our community. Here's the link to sign up for prayer hours on-line: 40DaysForLife.com/Altamonte-Springs. If you are new to 40 Days for Life and would like to get your feet wet in the company of others, please feel free to contact me, Kathy, at 407-230-3666 and I'll be happy to pair you up with an experienced volunteer. Also, for everyone, if you want to schedule a time to pray but are unable to sign up on-line for any reason, please don't hesitate to TEXT me at 407-230-3666 or to CALL Mark at 321-945-2895 and we will be happy to get you on the schedule. Please remember to include your name so that we will know who we are scheduling!

Last night I offered some basic information and I told you that tonight I would give you some practical information. So here are some house-keeping items:

Parking can be difficult out there at our vigil site, unfortunately. But if you go to our website, you will find a list of approved parking areas along with the limitations regarding days and times during which you are allowed to park in each area. Use this link to get to our website and then scroll down to find that information: 40DaysForLife.com/Altamonte-Springs.
I recommend that you use the restroom at home before heading out to the vigil site. We have a very good relationship with the pregnancy clinic (Life Choices / LCMC), however, their restroom is reserved for client pregnancy tests so it is best to NOT tie up their client restroom. If needed, you can always walk north (toward SR 436) along Maitland Ave. and use the public library restrooms. It's only a couple of blocks and on the same side of the street as the abortion center.
Behind LCMC, on the south end of the building, we have a deck box where we keep signs and other items such as umbrellas and reading material. If you would like to hold a sign while you are out there, please feel free to choose one for that purpose. Please know that you are NOT required to hold a sign. Some people like to hold a sign for the passers by to read and others do not. It's up to you. If you do use a sign, please return it to the deck box before you leave for the day. Please note that for 40 Days for Life, we do NOT use graphic signs with pictures of aborted babies or accusatory language. These kinds of messages are counter productive to our mission. Our "job" when out there with 40 Days for Life is to prayerfully reflect God's love and mercy for the abortion center clients while witnessing to the horror of abortion and raising consciousness for the passersby.
If standing is difficult for you, please don't hesitate to take a chair with you. It's perfectly OK to sit, walk or stand during your prayer time. Just remember to stay in the public right-of-way (sidewalk or grassy area between the sidewalk and the street).
That's enough for now. I am looking forward to seeing you out there as we stand in the gap between good and evil. It's such a worthy cause ... the most worthy really. The babies need us, the moms and dads need us although they don't realize it, the community needs us, and God needs us to be His hands (in prayer) and feet (standing in front of that place of death) for His glory and the good of mankind. Are you ready to make this the most meaningful Lent ever? Let's do it! May God bless us all.

Your sister in Christ,

Kathy Gard, 407-230-3666
