Not Everything Needs to Be Thrown Away… RePair Café

What if instead of throwing things away… we fixed them?
On Saturday, April 25th (the first Saturday after Earth Day), Grounded In Sound LLC will be hosting a FREE (though donations are welcomed) RePair Café at the Orford Church - a welcoming space where neighbors can come together to repair, learn, and connect.
What is a RePair Café?
RePair Cafés are community-led gatherings where volunteers help repair everyday items, free of charge, to reduce waste and keep things out of landfills. The idea began in Amsterdam in 2009 and has grown into a global movement.
What can you bring?
If you have something at home that almost works or just needs a little care, bring it along. Our volunteers may be able to help with:
-Bikes
-Furniture
-Toys
-Small motors & simple electronics
-Clothing repairs (buttons, hems, zippers)
-Jewelry
We even have a dog trainer who will be on hand to help “repair” relationships between dogs and their humans
Due to the possible demand, we are limiting the items to 2 per person
Not everything can be fixed on the spot—but you may leave knowing how to fix it.
A Bonus for Families
Upper Valley Ambulance will be there to talk with kids (and adults) about bike safety, especially helpful as we head into spring. *** They will also be handing out FREE kids bike helmets on a first come first serve basis.
Not Just Repairs…
This is not a drop-off event. It’s a stay, sit, and connect kind of day.
-Chairs to relax and chat
-Coffee and simple snacks
-Face painting for children
-Creative activities for all ages:
-Recycled art for little ones
-A cozy corner for infants and caregivers
-Nature journaling & scrapbooking for older children
Why this matters
Many of us feel the pull to waste less but aren’t always sure how. This is a small, practical step. No pressure. No expectations. Just a chance to try something different together.
Donations
While this is a free event, donations are warmly welcome.
Contributions will go, first to paying our volunteers for their materials, and then toward repairing and maintaining the Orford Church building, helping ensure it can continue to host future community events and gatherings.

If you’re skeptical, you’re especially welcome.
If you just want a cup of coffee and a conversation, that’s reason enough.
