Peoples Church will be temporarily closed next week due to several members of our church family — including most of our staff — testing positive for COVID.

The church office will be closed, staff will work remotely, and all events next week are canceled.

Worship will still be held tomorrow with a wonderful lay speaker (no coffee fellowship). If you are not feeling well, please test before attending or join us online. Masks are encouraged.

Thank you for your care, prayers, and understanding.

Subject: Church Service Canceled Tomorrow Due to Weather

Due to the current weather conditions and those forecasted for early tomorrow morning, we have decided to cancel our Sunday church service for the safety of all our members and visitors. Please stay home and avoid unnecessary travel. We encourage you to spend a few moments in prayer, worship, and reflection at home.

The Hanging of the Greens will be rescheduled. We will send out a separate email with the new date and time once it is confirmed.

We look forward to gathering together again next week. Please help spread the word to anyone who may not receive this message.

Stay safe, and blessings to you all.

We are aware of the upcoming winter storm warning and the likelihood of significant travel impacts. Traveling on icy or snow-covered roads can be challenging, stressful, and hazardous. If you must travel, please use extreme caution.

The safety of our church community remains our highest priority. The leadership of People’s United Methodist Church will continue to closely monitor the storm and potential driving conditions.

If we determine that conditions will be unsafe for travel on Sunday morning and choose to cancel worship and close the church, we will notify the congregation by email by 8:00 PM tomorrow evening. We will also post any cancellations on the church page.

Please be sure to check your email or the page before heading to church on Sunday morning.

Stay safe and take care.

As Pastor Vicki has shared in worship throughout September, faith calls us not to sit silently when others are threatened, but to stand up and protect the vulnerable—especially children.

This letter from our United Methodist Council of Bishops is deeply concerning. Children as young as 14 (and possibly younger) are being targeted by ICE in ways that violate their dignity and safety.
Now is the time to:

* Stand up in prayer and action for immigrant families, especially the children.
* Stand up by sharing “Know Your Rights” resources and making sure children and parents are protected from coercion.
* Stand up by raising our voices so no child is left unprotected in the face of fear and intimidation. Not on my watch!
Our call is clear: the church must be a refuge, an advocate, and a protector—not a bystander.

🙏 Let us stand together in Christ’s name, so that every child may know protection, dignity, love, and hope.

Wednesday Night Supper returns next Wednesday, September 17th! Supper will be served 5-6:30pm. We hope to see you there!

02/11/2025

Out of an abundance of caution related to weather predictions, we are canceling all Wednesday night activities on February 12. This includes Wednesday Night Supper, Wednesday Night Light Worship, and Youth Group.

Please stay safe and warm!
