Founded in 1986, we are an independent, ecumenical congregation affiliated with the International Council of Community Churches. Our members come from many backgrounds and traditions, gathering around a common mission to worship God in Christian unity without uniformity, to embrace diversity without divisiveness, and to embody the teachings of Christ with relevance to the needs of our world today.
Our mission is to build and be an inclusive community of Christian love and faith to work toward healing in ourselves and our world. Each Sunday at 10:00 am, we gather for worship. While the church offers many programs and activities, this is the heart of our community. We come to be inspired and comforted, challenged and stretched. We come to be together and experience the presence of God. Our worship is enhanced by our highly skilled pianist, and our wonderful volunteer choir, often together with flute accompaniment. Although the service is liturgical in structure, the feeling is warm, intimate and open. Persons of all religious backgrounds are warmly welcomed. Children are an important part of the life of Orchard Park Community Church -- including our worship. Children are welcomed and included in our worship. After the opening part of each service, children are invited to come down and gather on the chancel stairs with the pastor. There, the pastor talks directly with the children, often using props and sharing stories that relate to the theme of the day. After which, the children are invited go to Sunday school classes where they have a time of sharing, crafts and Christian Education. So, if it's been a while since you've shared in worship, do come to visit us. It's small enough to be friendly, yet large enough to provide a beautiful setting for worship. Our service is very "user friendly" and easy for first-time visitors. And, the sermons are not only "good news," but they are designed to relate to the issues we face in everyday life. Come be refreshed and renewed. You'll be glad you did!
