A Mother’s Prayer

Shared this with our OFC ladies. Thought you might enjoy. Happy Mothers Day Weekend!

Lord, you have blessed me beyond my childhood dreams when home and family were all pretend.
Now, memories of tiny toes and hands reaching up to touch my face are stored away and recalled when time presents these independent, capable, young adults - now friends.
How did we come to caps and gowns and wedding frills? It was not without pain and tears, heartbreaking, organic garden food to make us all grow.
I come to thank you, Lord, for all the times that You have lightened my load and brought me peace; the times that beneath the smiles a troubled heart needed your ease.
Thank you, Lord, for providing all we have needed, for keeping your promises in ways I would have never imagined. For reminding me time and again that You are always near.
Thank you, Lord, for the courage to act in times when fear would paralyze. For taking each step with me as I moved to grow this child.
Thank you for the joy of “bringing up a child in the way he should go” and allowing me to watch as his path winds its way to you.
Now, Lord, fuel Your Light within me so that I can shine Your image on these I love. Be in me Your hands and feet and lead me into each season of this role called “Mother.”
And when this day of honor yearly comes, may I faithfully credit Your strength, Your Presence, Your love for all this life has brought.
