OTD in 1873, 32-year-old Lottie Moon left the United States for China, just weeks after being appointed as a missionary by . After more than a month at sea, she arrived in China and began a missionary ministry that would last nearly 40 years.
Moon became one of the most influential missionaries in Southern Baptist history, advocating not only for reaching China with the gospel, but also for more missionaries and greater support from Baptists back home.
