Sunday Service Recap 💒

"The Messages of the Resurrection" ✝️✍🏾

Scripture Reference 📖:
Matthew 28:1-7 NIV

Sermon Notes📌:

1️⃣ The resurrection provides a foundation for trust, verification, and expectation.📇

2️⃣ The resurrection teaches us not to be afraid of the unusual. 🫣

3️⃣ The resurrection story should not be kept to ourselves. 📢

The resurrection reminds us that God will meet us right in the middle of the mess—and still bring a message out of it. Even when we wrestle like Thomas and seek verification, we’re invited to trust, not fear the unfamiliar, and remember that fear will never have the final word—so go quickly, run and tell it: Jesus has risen. ✨🙌🏽

🕊️ “Not for small vision, but for Holy Ambition!”

The 154th Session of the NJ Annual Conference Ordination Service was filled with a mighty move of God at Saint Matthew AME Church! Bishop Marvin C. Zanders II delivered a soul-stirring message entitled “The Person God Uses,” based on Isaiah 6:1.

Key Takeaways from the Bishop’s Message:

Vision in the Crisis: Isaiah saw the Lord not in a time of comfort, but in the year King Uzziah died. God often gives us a life-altering vision in the midst of our deepest struggles.

The Throne is Still Occupied: When earthly thrones are empty and life feels unstable, remember that God’s throne is still high and lifted up.

The Power of Truth: God uses people who are willing to tell the truth... not just about the world, but about themselves. Isaiah’s cry was “Woe is me!” before it was “Send me!”.

A heart-filled congratulations to our newly ordained Elders and Deacons! Having witnessed a mighty move of God, we all leave with a higher vision and a deepened resolve to serve the Kingdom.

✨ “Believe God for Greater!” ✨

We are still reflecting on the powerful word delivered by Rev. Dr. Danielle L. Hunter during the Women in Ministry (WIM) service at Saint Matthew AME Church during the 154th Session of the NJ Annual Conference. Preaching from 1 Chronicles 4:9-10, Dr. Hunter reminded us that where we start is not where we have to finish.

Key Takeaways from the Sermon:

Your Beginning is Not Your Destiny: Just because Jabez’s mother named him "Pain" doesn't mean his life had to remain sorrowful. God can shift the trajectory of your life regardless of your start.

Connection is Key: Relationship with God gives us the strength to endure difficult seasons and find "something within" that banishes pain.

Encourage Yourself: While we wait for God to respond, we must be like David and Vashawn Mitchell... Encourage yourself and declare that it is turning around for you!

Let’s stop trying to fully explain God and start fully experiencing Him. What "greater" are you believing for today? 🙏🏾

⚓ “AND Also..."

Rev. Maurice Tyndall set the house on fire during the NJ Conference YPD Worship Service! 🔥 He reminded us that life is often a series of "and alsos":
✅ We have joy, AND ALSO we carry pain.
✅ We have faith, AND ALSO we wrestle.

His challenge to the YPD: Stop comparing your life to someone else’s highlight reel. God is moving you from possibility to fulfillment, even if the road is unconventional.

Thank you, Rev. Tyndall, for this life-changing word! 📸 Check out some highlights from the NJ Conference YPD Worship Service below!

"It’s Time to Go After It!"

What a powerful closing to the at Saint Matthew AME Church! Bishop Samuel L. Green, Sr. brought the fire with a message that challenged us all: How bad do you want it?

Drawing from the courage of David in 1 Samuel 17:34-36, the Bishop reminded us that we cannot be passive in this season. He reminded us that the same God who was with us at the start is with us right now. We've been through too much to let the enemy steal our peace or our future.

His Challenge to the Conference:
✅ Stop being passive and start being proactive in your faith.
✅ Fight for your children, your sanity, and your community.
✅ Trust God even when the journey is long and the mountains are high.

Thank you, Bishop (First Episcopal District - AME Church) for this life-changing word! 📸 Check out some highlights from our Closing and Commissioning Service below!

🕊️ "Who Brought You Out?"

What a spirit-filled experience at Saint Matthew AME Church for our Opening Worship! Rev. Dr. Charles F. Boyer of Greater Mt. Zion AME (Trenton) brought a word that set our hearts on fire.

Dr. Boyer left us with a question that demands an answer at the 154th Session of the New Jersey Annual Conference.

Whether it was the Middle Passage, the Jim Crow South, or the personal "Egypts" we faced this past year, Who Brought You Out? Pastor Boyer reminded us:

✅ God doesn't just rescue individuals; He dismantles systems.
✅ Our worship is a response to His deliverance.
✅ We plead the Blood over our history, our families, and our future.

Drop a "Hallelujah" in the comments if you know it was the Lord who brought you through! ⬇️🙏🏾

Thank you for visiting with us again, Governor Mikie Sherrill! Praying for you as you lead our state.
