Tonight, the Senate is expected to vote on a reconciliation bill that would funnel billions of additional dollars to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The House vote will follow shortly after.
There is also a chance that the Kayla Hamilton Act will be attached to the reconciliation bill. It would bar children from being released to their own parents if those parents are not U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents, putting children at risk of trafficking.

Take action now: Contact your Senators and Representatives and urge them to vote NO on the FY 2026 immigration enforcement reconciliation bill — and to oppose any amendment attaching the Kayla Hamilton Act.

On Saturday, May 16th, the Sisters of St. Joseph hosted the Art in the Garden event. It was an afternoon to be in community among Sisters, lay companions, and longtime supporters. The event was filled with singing, tasty food, dancing, and much joy. We are grateful for the support that all the sponsored ministries receive that advance the Sisters' mission to serve the dear neighbor without distinction. THANK YOU!

On May 10th a group of women religious and lay women visited a refugee shelter at the US/Mexico border for an opportunity to be in community and honor women, in every form – grandmothers, mothers, caregivers. Through a blessing ritual, mothers were made aware that they are supported as they struggle with so much uncertainty and challenges. They know that they are not alone, that they are prayed for and supported.

Thank you to Border Compassion for coordinating this visit, to the Los Angeles Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet for accompanying the group, and all those who donated with the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange!
