Remembering Dolores I. “Mama” Gili (1892-1985) on the 134th anniversary of her birth!

Mama Gili was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a fervent Catholic, whose life exemplified the Two Great Commandments: to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, and mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself.

She wanted Our Lord to be known and loved by everyone and tirelessly spread the Devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus to thousands of people in the United States and abroad.

She lived a life of charity, opening her home to those in spiritual and material need, becoming “Mama” to them all.

She accepted her many sufferings as God’s will, offering them up for the Church, priests, religious, married couples, the youth, and for all those who asked for her prayers.

She lived and died as a true apostle of the Holy Face of Jesus.

Thank you to everyone who came out today including the Apostolato Italiano dell'Arcidiocesi di Newark/ Italian Apostolate RCAN ! It was a beautiful and historic day for our parish, marking the return of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass offered in the Italian language and welcoming our new pastor, Fr. Salvador, CSJ.

This Saturday the Italian Mass returns to Orange. New Jersey! Join us in welcoming the language of our Apostolate back to Our Lady of Mount Carmel - Orange. This beautiful historic Italian ethnic parish is home to several devotions our ancestors brought over from the old country. We will be there to support!

Unisciti a noi per dare il bentornato alla lingua del nostro Apostolato presso la parrocchia di Nostra Signora del Monte Carmelo a Orange. Questa splendida e storica parrocchia di origine italiana ospita diverse devozioni che i nostri antenati hanno portato con sé dal vecchio continente. Saremo presenti per sostenerla!

Rev. Dante Di Girolamo
June 19, 1925 - March 15, 2013
Fr. Dante was assigned to St. John’s Church in Orange for many years. But he also appeared at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and remained with us, living in the rectory for a few years, when we were in great need. The Capuchin friars had given up responsibility for the parish after more than 70 years, we had no pastor for a time, and the parish was being considered for closure. Fr. Dante appeared and said “How can I help?”. In his signature way, he brought the love of Christ to our parish and walked with us through a difficult time. Today marks the 13th anniversary of his death. Let’s all remember Fr. Dante today and say an “Eternal Rest” for him. ❤️

Remembering Dolores "Mama" Gili today on the 132nd anniversary of her birth! She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and was married here on October 2, 1913.
