American Reformed Church

American Reformed Church American Reformed Church (ARC) is a community that gathers together to be transformed by Jesus to transform the world.

As followers of Jesus Christ, we believe we have been called by the Holy Spirit to WORSHIP God, KNOW God in community with others, and SERVE God by serving others. We believe church is a place where people should find welcome and acceptance. Whatever your background and wherever you find yourself in life, there is a place for you at ARC. We follow the teaching of the apostle Paul who said, “Welcom

e one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you” (Romans 15:7 NRSV). We also believe church should be a safe place to ask hard questions and explore your own spiritual journey. The community at ARC prefers open, respectful conversation and debate over simplistic answers. From our beginnings, ARC has been a church for “outsiders.” Our name comes from the fact that ARC was the first English-speaking (i.e., American) church in our historically Dutch community. We continue to be known as a church that is forward-thinking, diverse and hospitable, accepting toward all. Our name includes the word “Reformed,” which ties us to the Reformed Church in America (RCA) [hotlink to www.rca.org]. Reformed churches have their roots in the Protestant Reformation of the 1500s, which refocused the church on the centrality of Christ, grace, faith and the Bible. “Reformed” also means we are continually re-formed, ever re-forming. We are both deeply rooted and open to changing in response to God’s transforming grace.

This Sunday, we’ll be reflecting on Ephesians 4:1–16, where Paul encourages the church to live in a way that reflects the calling they have received. He speaks about humility, patience, unity, and the gifts God has given each of us to help the whole community grow.

Paul invites us to imagine a different way of living—one in which our differences are not a threat, but a gift, and where we help one another grow into the people God created us to be.

We look forward to exploring this passage with you and wondering together what it means to become a more connected and Christ-centered community.

This Sunday we begin our a new sermon series "Together—Who We Are" and we will also share in communion.

This table is for all of us. In Christ, we come together as one body, and we’re fed by his mercy.

Come and receive what you don’t have to earn.

This Sunday, we’ll be in 1 Corinthians 12:12–27, where Paul describes the church as a body made up of many different parts. What does it mean to actually live this way as a community? And what are we supposed to do when we’re frustrated with the part God has made us to be?

Ultimately, this passage invites us to see value both in ourselves and in the people around us. That isn’t always easy, but it may be one of the ways God leads us into fuller and healthier lives together.

We are looking forward to wondering about this passage together this Sunday.
